Its a pitty that your mother in law didn't go for the hip replacement, sure, there are risks with any operation, but the percentage of anything going wrong is pretty slim these days. all the best Brian ![]() |

--to hear from you, or your "designee", as to how it all goes.
I would wish you good luck, but I always think it's far better to wish a patient good skill--on the part of the surgeon! (Let's hope luck has nothing to with it.) |

I hope this step brings you the relief finally from the pain you live with daily.
We'll all be rooting for you! Remember to stop fish oil, vit E, aspirin, NSAIDs before surgery. After, zinc, good protein food choices, speed recovery.

Brian,
Although I am very new to the forum you've given me some very helpful insights and suggestions to the PN struggles and I want to add my sincere best wishes for the best possible outcome for your hip replacement surgery. I hope your surgery will be uneventful, w/ a speedy recovery and give you long-lasting pain relief. My old boss had the surgery a few years back and his life has improved dramatically ever since - he's now 85 and going stronger than ever! Alkymst |

The old 'Roy Rogers' song HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU! comes to mind. ABOUT TIME! and all that other stuff comes to mind, but, Bone-on-bone gronches are NOT what anyone want's to hear [in their head-or other places]!
Soo, this means one week from today, we probably won't hear from YOU, tho maybe thru a surrogate? As you may recall, LizaJane did the updates/reporting thu a surogate and others... Please don't be shy about USING good folks now...If for no other reason, than those folks reading about OUR support for YOU will probably inspire and [as a benefit] educate them! It could be that your family might get a teeny GLIMPSE with your life? Promise me, and, I believe this shouldn't be too much of an ISSUE, BE SUPER AGRESSIVE w/your PT? AFTER, well, you think ...all done...NO, it just begins. You really have to re-learn to walk, turn, twist, RIGHT. During recovery, and after. It's a Process? Work that old SYSTEM for all you can get! It's what we all need and can benefit from. Super hugs! Fuzzies! Special thoughts for the OMG's! My ONLY hope is that some [any bit is important, in my book] pain will be GONE! - j |

Good news Brian. I'm happy for you, finally. Talking with people who had a total hip replacement, the first few days are painful. I hope that your doctors give you enough pain killers to float through that period. After that, the pain goes way down, and healing is quick. The folks I talked with said that the new hip worked as good as a new hip, which it is.
Good luck. We'll all be anticipating hearing from you after the surgery.
