The Eat Right 4 your Type is just a theory based on the antibody markers present on blood cells.

But if a person has had severe leaky gut all their lives, well then just about everything may leak into the blood and start up an allergic autoimmune response.

Once people become mixed, by intermarriage, all of the genes that govern these protein complexes blend. In the US we have the most mixing of the world, but I think Britain is coming close to us.

There are studies showing that the Pima Indians living in US, vs their relatives still in Mexico, have considerable obesity and other problems. Their blood relatives a short distance away eating the indigenous foods, are totally different in diseases present.

All very true. I do think I have suffered from leaky gut for most of my adult life and you are correct. Just the food crossing that gut border will cause an auto-immune issue. I also think people can have a leaky gut without gluten issues, although I know mine all began because of gluten.

That's how I feel too. Actually just another way to talk people into eating a certain way, and selling his books!

Jumping in rather late. I know two people who react very quickly with brain symptoms ("bipolar" and "depression" symptoms) from cow dairy. They also have a problem with gluten but have been gluten-free for some years. Yet they still react to cow dairy. I had always thought the reaction to the casein was due to the leaky gut. Can someone explain? Is this a different mechanism?

Of course, since they have not been exposed to the cow casein in a while, maybe this no longer holds true.

Why do they still eat dairy if they are reacting to it? I think the dairy makes their leaky gut kick in. Dairy is probably an intolerance for them, so when they eat it, it leaks into the gut, causing symptoms. I have read that the gut can't really tell what the food is, it just knows it doesn't beloong where it is, so it kicks in an immune reaction.

This looks to be a very good read:
http://www.lovelyhealth.com/Leaky_Gut_Syndrome.htm

I didn't realize I had leaky gut until after the candida diet began, then I realized leaky gut is an issue for me. My neuro told me a long time ago that he felt leaky gut was an issue for me, but I didn't believe him...now I do.

Hope this helps a little.
