Joe--I am going to let my mom know about your suggestion. She had lumbar surgery in Nov 05. 12" of steel rod, 16 screws and she still is in misery. Now her right hip is in bad shape and she absolutely does not want anymore surgery. She had been walking with a walker, finally was able to get around, now she has a cane because she can not put any weight on the hip. She is only 70 and should still beable to enjoy her life--she can't go grocery shopping with my dad anymore, she refuses the electric wheelchairs, can't walk the store, she is very depressed about all this. My mom and dad always do everything together. I will let her know about this--maybe I will buy her some and send it to them. Thanks.

Wish it could help our neuropathy!

Good luck LizaJane--I hope Mayo figures this all out for you. If they do, we will have to let my mom know too. Have a safe trip.

Deb

Default Liza Jane, I'll be thinking....

Super good thoughts for the duration. Whew! I have a LOT of folks on my THOUGHTS PLATE Lately! You won't be short-changed, I promise!

It's a hard decision to make, but, once made, you will at least be better informed about what all comes next...or not. Not ONE of us ever wants to accept the possibility of TOTAL Permanent Stuff!

My heart also is with you during all this, and please, do keep us up to date...You too shall have a nosy, bossy set of 'balloons' hovering over you. Geesh We wanna KNOW, GOTTA KNOW! We could be next?

Sending you heaps of pre-heated fuzzies to keep your toes warm...it's still COLD up there! - j

Default Hi!!! Liza Jane

Just wanted to send my warmest wishes and hope you find an answer to your problems.

You poor thing. I cant imagine what it must be like to have "loose screws' in your back.

How can screws get loose?? I mean, during an operation, I would imagine the surgeon tightens them with a tool or something. I can't get my mind around a person who goes for back surgery and then finds out the screws get loose!!!

Is this a common occurance, or is it rare?

Anyway, you are always in my thoughts.!!!

Melody

Default thank you all

for the many kind words.

And HeyJoe, the suggestions about calcium....I have only actually just begun taking calcium religiously. I'm not sure the kind--it's from lef.org, and I usually just trust them. I'll check. Calcium usually bothers my stomach.

I do think the bone growth stimulator might be helping. I am in less pain, so maybe something good is going on. Not out of pain by a long-shot, but less.

And I'm way too stressed just now. Way.

I've rented a laptop, as Billye told me she and her husband spent a lot of time waiting, browsing and emailing on their separate laptops. Sounded like a good idea. It's not costly, just heavy. I'll need something to wheel it around in!

Thinking of you, and hope that Mayo has some answers for you.
BTW, loose screws are usually remedied by tightening
with a screwdriver.
I'll lend you one, if'n ya need it!

I forgot to add it was Now Foods Calcium Carbonate powder. I dont know if it would upset your stomach or not, you can mix it with anything it pretty much tasteless. I wish you well on you trip to Minnesota, and hope you come back with what you need to know to get back to full speed.
