quick update;

I have had 9 treatments and have had some work stuff keep cropping up but my final paid treatement is Monday 13th. I will also have an eval with the doc after that/

OVERALL: I feel like at this point I have about a 25% reduction in symptoms. My toes still get red once in a while but much less than before. the intensity of the pain and tingling in my feet is dramatically less; the burning pains have also decreased. I feel most improvement has been in my toes and not in the next part of my foot (ball).

THey do recommend 20 sessions but at this point, after 9, I can say i have some relief..........now lets see the eval with the doc and compare the tests.

update;

last Monday I had my 10th appt and eval with the doc.
we did the same test as when i started.

i havent scanned it in but my scores went up from the old test/

left side 47 (old 38)
right side 48 (old 40)

so thats is in line with my personal assessmsnt a few posts ago of a 20-25% decrease in symptoms/

so i signed up for 10 more sessions/ went through my supliment list and he added l'arginine to it. he also threw in 5 treatments for my back on the drx9000 as he feels some of my neuropathy is most likely coming form there and wants to see if that helps me at all.

I had my 11th treatment wed last along with my 1st drx9000 decompression.

Thanks for the updates.

I am going to share something...and I hope you all don't really laugh too hard at my expense.

After looking at several papers on "light therapy" it occurred to me while playing with my kitty and her toy laser, to try it on my swollen left foot. This has been terrible all winter...it starts swelling about 2 hrs after being up and around. Some days I cannot bend it. This is my surgical foot, where a tumor was removed from in between the tendons on the top of the instep.

So after about 5 days or so, I noticed less pain when I went to bed. I then thought... hmmmm... so I went on Ebay and looked at medical lasers, which you can buy for about $189, but they come from Poland. I was looking around and there was a laser pointer for $2.89 (supply your own batteries 2AAA's) and I decided to buy it, if for any other reason it is better and sturdier than the kitty toy one. Well it finally came.. after 10 days... and I started using it. The beam is much larger...at least 4 times larger than the toy one. I am doing about 10-15 min. on that foot on the ankle where the pain is (now was) and the instep, etc. Just days ago, the swelling is about 90% down...even when I walk alot that day, etc. It took a while, but surprisingly it is working somehow! I only bought the red one (as laser pointers now come in colors), thinking it is the red wavelength that does the job.

So now my kitty hears the "click" and comes running for her play time. She stops and watches my foot treatment with interest, and then I give her another go with it.

There may be something to the red wavelength, and healing stimulation, or circulation improvement etc. I am not doing the bottoms of my feet, as my issues are higher up. But something IS happening, so I waited a few more days, in case a relapse was in the cards, and I am still doing well! So I decided to post.

Here is the pointer I purchased:
It is on Ebay all over...with different sellers, different prices etc.
I bought mine for $2.89 no shipping chg... 5mwatt RED.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Ultra-Powerf...item2a119a27bb

I am continuing the daily once a day treatment, while I watch the news on TV... etc. I am pleased.
Anyone who likes a challenge might like to try this too.

After all, I am the original magnet lady on these boards as well!

I am buying 2 of these, one for me and one for hubby, it sounds good to me. I didn't laugh at you Mrs. D, but I did smile. Hey, you never know, maybe you're on to something. I love this place!

What do you mean, you're the original magnet lady? I was looking into magnets for my hubby's sciatic but don't know what kind to get. Hope you have a happy, comfortable, pain free week.

I've used magnets for pain for over 10 yrs now. Back when my right knee was so painful... a friend gave me two neodymiums and they worked. I was teased endlessly at work. I was a contingent, and it even followed me around the city.

Here is my magnet thread:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...hlight=magnets

I now use the plastic coated ones, since the plastic protects the skin from the nickel in the magnet... so there is no magnet "burn". Some "medical" magnets are terribly expensive.
I've found this one works very well, and it is fairly new:
http://www.amazon.com/Neodymium-Magn...8566649&sr=8-1

These particular magnets are so strong you don't have to wear them all day (like the little ones I used to use). I put the red side down against the skin, for the most relief. They work for back pain nicely. 20 minutes sometimes is enough!

That link I put up has a link to a 3D body illustration showing the nerves. You can use it, rotate it and place your magnet over the area that seems to have a specific nerve serving it. I think placement accuracy is what leads to success!

i will provide some more updates as i get more treatements. I did have the oportunity to chat with another patient. He is a diabetic ( Hemoglobin A1C > 8) and had neuropathy for 10+ years. He was on treatment 16 and said he felt a 50% improvement in his feet neuropathy.

time for an update.......

today was treatment 17 with the laser treatments and about 8 DRX decompression.

I am happy to report that my progress has continued in a positive way. My feet are definitely responding to the treatments. And now I am starting to notice the change in the part of the foot behind the toes (ball). that part always felt DEAD when i layed down to sleep. I am noticing that it doesnt feel that way as much anymore.

At 10treatments I said 25%; I would say I have a 50% improvement in the neuropathy symptoms today. maybe more. when we get to 20 I will have another evaluation and test. I will post results of that right here.

I have talked to a handful of others getting the treatments and all have said they notice some improvement.

I would recommend that you consider this treatment. I have nothing to gain by stating that; I just feel its necessary to share my experiences.

Good Luck!

I have found with my laser pointer, that if not done everyday, for at least 15 minutes or so, the benefit wears off.

Hi Rob, I have been following your post on the Low Intensity Laser Therapy(LILT). I am very curious to find out which machine the technician is using. Do you know it it is the Bioflex unit by Meditech. I have been going for two treatments a week now for several weeks. Just finished my 20th treatment. They are treating my back as well as my feet. My back is much better.. 75% .I didn't even realize how much my back was hurting until it stopped. I was diagnosed with PN just last month , and my biggest complaint is the tingling and burning in my feet of course, but the Ball of my foot pain drives me crazy. It feels like I am walking on rocks. The laser has helped it a bit in that area. The laser also helped to bring back the feeling in both of my big toes.
I am so curious to see if your treatment is the bioflex laser and if it is , how they place the pads on your foot area.
I have been reading this forum for several months now but this is my first time posting. I feel so fortunate to have found this forum and to have so much information all in one place.
Donna
