Default supplement question for experts

Hey guys, so you might remember my posts about my pelvic injury resulting in peripheral nerve damage to my genitals. Anways, I have been taking a couple supplements for around 4-5 months now and was just wondering if there could be any *negative* consequences, nerve wise, from taking any of this stuff...

Here is the list:

Mgnsium: 400 mg
b12 sublingual: 5-30 mg daily
lions mane: 2700 mg daily
aLPHA lipoic acid : 750 mg daily
b6: 75 mg daily
ALC: 2300 mg daily

I don't think you need more than 5mg daily for the B12.

Also 50mg tops daily for the B6.

I don't know anything about lions' mane.

The others look okay.

Really?

I've only been taking 500 mg of acetyl l-carnitine and 200 of R-lipoic acid (I know you need less of this than alpha lipoic, but still...).

Should I up my doses?

[Sorry to butt in on your thread, John. ]

John's problem is different from others who come here. If he is willing to spend the money for the higher doses, I don't see a problem with some things.

But for most of us, I don't think really high doses are necessary.

5mg of B12 daily put me at the test maximum calibration. 2000 blood level is quite a bit. There is no evidence that more would help, most people. If John choses more and has the funds to pay for it, it is his choice.

I try to be safe and reasonable here. Really high doses of some things start to create side effects, and may be harder on the kidneys etc.

You'll notice he said ALPHA lipoic...and higher doses of that are necessary than the R-lipoic you are taking. 200 R-lipoic should be enough for most people. Alpha is less potent.
