The Nortriptyline should be a capsule... you do have capsules?
Sometimes during shipment, a capsule is damaged and breaks open in the stock bottle. This will spill powder all over. If the caps affected are not cleaned off the residue would be detectable when you put it in your mouth. Take the capsule and gently roll it in your clean hand back and forth several times before taking (do this rubbing your palms together). Then wash your hand. You can look at the capsule with a magnifying glass to see if powder residue is on it. Capsules that are properly made should not have any taste.

I looked up Nortriptyline in US in the FDA orange book.
The generics here are all capsules. This is because the parent drug Pamelor is a capsule and generics in US have to match the dosage form of the Brand name. Elavil generic (amitriptyline) is commonly a little green pill, in the 25mg size. The 10 mg may commonly be pink. With tablets however, the colors are not required to match the Brand type.
