I had terrible migraines when we lived in California, back in the '70's, especially when the Santa Ana winds blew. My doctor who also taught at UCLA Medical Center said they'd been experimenting with B-12 shots for migraines there, and he started me on them, once a month. I had no faith whatsoever when he suggested this, but relief was immediate. I would think you could take the methocobalamin B-12 which is available now. It wouldn't hurt and might even help both the head aches and PN if you aren't already taking it.

Lindyloo, all the meds I'm on I've been on for a while so its unlikely that this is the cause, but thanks for contributing to the discussion anyway.

I had lots of good blood testing from a doctor that does great work with bio identical hormones. I have my hormone balanced now.Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, Pregnenolone and DHEA. I threw up several times a week and had horrible pain for years. I cannot take any pain med so it was a nightmare. Within two days of the correct hormones, I never had another migraine. It is amazing.

Every branch of my family had migraines since time began. We were experts at pills. I can remember my grandmother and great grandmother with their pill boxes. We had bottles of codeine and were experts on ever make of pill.
I moved to a place with lots of weather pressure changes and my migraines became unbearable and so I did more research and found the book Heal your Headache by Buchholz. I cut out all of the foods he suggested (admittedly it is a long list) and completely ended my migraines. It was miraculous. In the last 100 years no doctor has ever told anyone in my family how to do this and I was the first person of many generations able to cure my migraines. Amazing how little doctors are trained in nutrition and how "take this pill" is not the only way to heal people of debilitating conditions. |

I have atypical migraine, which includes facial numbness and tingling, this runs across my forehead and down the left side of my cheek. I've had tongue numbness, burning & sometimes even a sore crampy feeling. The headaches would come and go, but the neurological symptoms were near constant. My neuro put me on a combo of lacosimide, verapamil & low dose amitriptyline. My neuro symptoms are mostly gone. My tongue will still flare. I maybe get a headache once a month now. A definite improvement!

I had migraines start in my 50's ! The first episode, which I think was a migraine, I ended up in the ER with severe vertigo. I stayed dizzy a long time after and had balance therapy. They said this was labrythitis (sp?) but I don't think it was. I have had yrs of these "attacks" along with vision distortions. With these I get the zig-zags for about 20 min. then not a lot of pain. The next day if I bend over or cough I can feel it in my head. I wake up with the vertigo at times. Migraines they say run in families ... my brother had these and his went away which often times happens as you age... no such luck here!
