I have developed a relatively new symptom and would like to get any expert advice if possible.
I know that I have some cervical stenosis but it has never really been too bad. However, some new alarming symptoms have popped up and I need advice. First, over the last few months I have been getting a fair amount of pain at the base of my neck and right shoulder that may be cervical spine related. I am now noticing that when I bend either arm back (as if I am lifting a weight)and then flex my biseps, both biseps immediately seem to cramp-up and begin to hurt badly! The pain goes away when I unflex the biseps. Does this sound like a cervical spine issue? |

How long has it been since the last imaging or x ray of the c spine area??
Could it be due to some sort of repetitive motion injury or work & postures? Desk work, previous whiplash, forward head/forward shoulders? If any of these sound like a fit, you might want to read on our Thoracic outlet syndrome forum (TOS) for short. here- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum24.html - check the sticky threads there too.

Mrs. D: You have mentioned "TOS" a number of times. What leads you to consider that, as opposed to more traditional cervical spine problems such as stenosis or disk issues? David |

![]() TOS is complex, and I don't know a whole lot about it, but Jo is very experienced. TOS can be vascular compromise, nerve compression, or tendon oriented. But since you asked, I'd try rubbing some magnesium lotion into the traps, neck and biceps. I am using my CVS Epsom lotion now for my right arm, which gives me grief now and then. I think the muscles there can spasm too, and compress nerves, at times. My right arm is the shingles arm too. Also the one I use for my walking stick. Mine is more shoulder pain, not muscle.
