Frown Newbie to site and in pain

Hi I am new here and found site when searching for info on PN.I came back frome holiday June 2012.I felt really well as I suffer from fibro .
A couple of days later I had a fish pedicure which is not allowed in some countries. The fish just nibble and one did nibble a little hard at one point. That night I started getting pain in that foot. The pain then spread to my toes and fingers a burning throbbing pain which makes my fingers very sensitive (they feel the heat of the keyboard as I type.
I went to my gp who refrerred me to a neurologist after checking for diabetes, vit b, lymes disease.I have had an MRI and other nerve conducting tests which show nothing.I am taking Lyrica 200mg times a day and amytriline 10mg x2 a night.I felt better for a while then pain came back tablets increased to full dosage.Pain as now came back.I mentionec the fish pedicre to go and neurogist and they brushed that off also I had just returned from a foreigh country were these 2 events just coincendce ?.I feel really down at the moment what with this pain on top of fibo symptons aghhh

I wanted to welcome you though sorry for your pain and conditions. This community is very educated and supportive.
I have never heard of a fish pedicure so can't give feedback in that. Were you exposed to anything else in the other country you can think of? Did you have any infections from this?

Hi Topaz and welcome to the site. I have had small fiber neuropathy for 3 1/2
years now and have not been able to find a cause. I also was in a foreign country befor this happened. I was in China in April and Mexico in June. All of my symptoms started in end of JUly. My doctors also say it is coincidental. They sa if I had gotten a parasite etc it would shhow itself and I would be severly ill. I still wonder sometimes if this all happened from something on one of those trips. I guess I'll never know. Good Luck with everything.

Welcome topaz!
Thank you for joining our group. You will find this site to be a wonderful site. It is full of education, empathy, logic, sympathy, debate, friends, referrals, links, and new discoveries each and every day. I have felt myself come out of deep holes just by opening the page and reading the posts. You get to know so much by being here. I am sad about what has driven you here though, but hope that you can receive some relief from what you can learn here - I have. And I have seen many other as well. I can understand about indifferent drs - just keep searching for the right one. I had to go through some pretty awful dr's (one said to "just get elbow pads"!) before I finally had a diagnosis. I hope you can get some help soon!

Hi,
I think if you correlate an event to your illness, there is a great possibility they do have something to do with each other! But it will be hard to find a Western doctor to help pinpoint that. I have never heard of a fish pedicure, but I have also only had ONE pedicure in my life. And it was after that mani and pedi that I got a finger infection, I am so grateful I did not allow any work on my toenails!

Although I have a history of burning soles and tingling on my right cheek, AND a history of raynaud's, I have NEVER had the pain, burning or numbness that I have been experiencing SINCE a major event this past summer. I had 2 wisdom teeth removed, and although some people have an easy time of it, I did not. I could not eat solid food for a month. When you eat only liquidized food, most of it contains sugar. I also took an antibiotic. It is exactly one week after I finished the antibiotic that I started getting toe pain and problems, and they have not gone away. I have problems believing these are all related, but I also don't know how they are not related. Sometimes I believe this is all related to that event, and then other times I start noticing that all my other irritating symptoms have either been going on or have greatly increased, and it cannot possibly be related to that one event.

If you believe this could be related, I think it is totally possible. And it may be YOU that has to figure it out. I'm sorry if it seems you have problems communicating this to your doctors, that seems to be a huge problem for a lot of us. I hope you can figure it out! (I used to own a lot of fishtanks and there ARE some diseases that people can get that are spread by fish, ie fish tuberculosis - through wounds, scratches...) I probably sound crazy even mentioning this, but I have OCD and trust me I have worried about that.
