Default PN and compression socks?

Hello, I am new here and wonder if anyone has experienced my situation and what did you do about it? I have PN that was about 80% controlled with 1200 mg gabapentin and Klonopin. Then my legs began swelling. Ultrasound showed "leaky" vein valves. The vein specialist prescribed graduated compression socks, and my life hasn't been the same since. The PN pain has greatly increased. I can't wear the socks. Well, I could if I didn't need to sleep at all. Also, I was told that 30 min. walking/day would help those pesky valves, so I have been walking at a moderate pace on the treadmill every day. And wearing just plain old knee socks, which help a little. I don't want to end up with a serious valve problem. I upped both meds and that didn't help much. Can anyone help? Thank you so much.

I do not have any experience with your valve problems or swelling, but I can tell you that compression socks are unbearable with PN. I have severe varicose veins, and have tried them, they increase pain and discomfort quite a bit. In fact, even jeans drive me crazy. The best thing about losing weight is that my pants are all really loose and don't bother me as much.
I would never attempt wearing any type of compression hosiery with this condition. I have to take even loose socks off after a few hours.
Walking regularly does seem to help some of my symptoms. I am tired afterwards, but generally find it improves my quality of life.

Everyone is different but I could not tolerate these. I am hypersensitive and for many months could not tolerate a sock at all. I had to train my body slow to be able to again. I could open a sock shop with how many pairs I have which I can't wear. For myself since I swell I buy plus size people's sock and I am not a plus size women. Or by Med Ped brand I found some that have no binding at the ankle for when I swell. Med ped brand has many different types you may want to google and see.
I am not familiar with vein issues. Could you call the person who rx them and explain you have increase in PN pain. Maybe they are not the right fit or there is another type
I hope you can find a tolerable pair

Default Thanks

Thank you for your comments and suggestions re compression socks. Boy can I relate to opening a sock shop--I too have drawers full of various kinds I can't wear. I neglected to note that I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Celiac disease, and am pre-diabetic as well. No one seems to know where the PN and Restless Leg Syndrome came from. I do feel somewhat guilty complaining about my problem when the PN pain isn't as debilitating as what some of you are experiencing. It's just a lot worse now, and I get discouraged.

On a side note what type of shoes do you wear? For me that makes a huge difference and I have to wear walking shoes always for the extra support. I would also call the doctor who rx the socks and explain you are in more pain and is there an alternative. I wonder is there a forum for vein issues? Or if you search on here someone who may not have PN but may have vein problems could help.
I wish you would not feel guilty. You can't compare pains because this is your life and it is impacted in a bad way. For everyone there will be a worse or better of person but it does not take away fro that persons issues. Am I making sense?
