Gabapentin and Lyrica are not metabolized appreciably by the
liver. However, the BuTrans has a definite DO NOT DRINK in its directions. Baclofen? Highly impairing. People may fall, hit their heads or some other body part and serious injury may result...or death. Gabapentin and Lyrica are also very sedating. What you get is FOUR drugs, messing with your reflexes and balance, and then the alcohol on top of it. A mixture with severe potential for a nasty accident.

I drank a LOT before the PN started and then drank even more which was idiotic considering it was alcoholic PN.
It wasnt just for the pain killing though, I only now realize that i have been very depressed all my life and the booze was a way of masking it. Also my father died from alcoholic related cause. about 6 months post PN my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer and I was the only carer and thats when it kicked in the worst. Mercifully it was only several months but I started to drink a bottle of scotch every second day and that was just at home, I was also taking up to 450 mg of lyrica and this went on for another year. Alcohol was the best pain killer by far when it kicked in but the next day was agony so more alcohol, pretty bad circle and will never go back there These days I have a pint of guineas on a special occasion. The human body is remarkable in its tolerance to abuse , just look at keith richards from the Rolling Stones, nuff said ![]() |

You know, Baclofen is being used now in alcohol cessation
treatments. It is supposed to stop cravings: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16490478

More on Keith Richards:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ppearance.html There are people who smoke like chimneys, drink enormously and do cocaine and don't die young. It is all in the genetics.

Well, let's just say this:
Keith Richards looks like he is half dead already. He is about my age and I don't look like that for sure. I don't think he will be around much longer. So "young" can be a relative term where he is concerned. With all that cocaine, I hope he has good cardiologists!

I don't even have any age spots on my hands, like women get commonly. And I don't have much wrinkling (Don't smoke)
Face is getting a bit saggy now though--gravity ![]() My doctor has commented on the lack of skin changes. Guess it is all those antioxidants? LOL Edit to add--I just turned on to CNN and discovered this tragic fact: Whitney Houston has passed away...a beautiful woman with a rare gift. So sad! One of the world's most beautiful voices! Seems appropriate for this discussion.
