The thing is, l cannot understand how my iron can be normal, (still in the lower range though), and my haemoglobin low. This doesn't mean l am anemic does it? This is the confusing part for me.
Also l heard that taking iron supplements are bad for the body? Do you think this is true? Very interesting article about the children and iron. Its amazing that IDA can cause NP? Have to look further into this one. But tried googling normal iron and low haemoglobin and couldn't really find an answer, apart from anemia always showing up. Couldn't actually find what this meant. The doctors don't seem to think its a problem. As my haemoglobin is just below the lowest it should be. So not sure what to do. Sue |

Doctors are really responsible for you when initiating iron supplementation.
I'd get your test results copied so you can look them up. Quote:

I have kept all my blood test results for the last 10 years.
Do you suggest l google the results of haemoglobin in the search bar? Also, are you saying that the doctors are not keen on prescribing iron tablets? Thanks sue ![]() |

My name is Eileen and I am 52 years old and I have worked all my life standing and now I feel like I am 85. I have so much problems with my feet that no doctor wants to operate. I have spent so much money on so many things from accupunture to oils and medicine. But I do belive to go to a natural health food store and talk to some one about how your feeling. I am in chronic pain and depressed and anxiety all rolled up to ADHD also. Sometimes I say why can't there be a cure for this? Pray to the only one who can heal you and guide you to the right direction. Jesus is the name. I pray you get better. hugs, Eileen |

Poor acid quality in the stomach, from drugs like Zantac or Prilosec will reduce iron absorption, as acid is a cofactor for proper iron absorption from food. Anemia can be common in women who have heavy periods. This happens typically just before menopause starts for some of them.

My periods are very light, so that is the culprit.
I just wonder if this can be hereditary? After reading the article MrsD sent, it states if my haemoglobin is low l am anaemic. Sue |
