Default Latest Update

Saw the Neurologist today, prior to that I saw his technician and she did an SSEP, that involves attaching electrodes to the 2 nerves in your scalp, hip, knee and spine, then they attach electrodes to your nerves on your feet and pass a current through it in 2 different places.
Did not hurt but boy it sure shakes your nerves up it took me about 1/2 hr to stop shaking after it.
He is confident that the Subacute is no longer a problem and there was nothing on the MRI or SSEP that could explain the intermittent paralysis.
I have to go for further Nerve Conduction Tests on May the 16th.
He is of the opinion that it is stress related although I do not feel stressed. he says that the workings of your body can become stressed and you are not aware of it.
He is hoping that some kind of medication may help this but it is very difficult as I am really bad with a number of drugs that may or may not help.
Of course I am still unable to drive, and this is the biggest difficulty I face, as I would just like to get up and go somewhere without someone having to take me.

Default Think of it this way??

Your nerves WERE 'vibrating' for a while after!
It's worse when you can't TELL that they're zapping you! You have nerves that were given, shall we say, one really good RUDE AWAKENING!

Turn that pain into a positive thing and make it work for you!

Also keep in mind that while you don't THINK you're stressed, your body thinks it is. It's up to you to break that bad body 'think' habit...one easier said than done.

Some Nerve tests are useful in tracking your progress however little. Don't know about you, but any little bit of progress is just FINE with me!

Super good thoughts for you! - j

Hi Dorvad, i can't take some drugs like Neurotin & Oxycontin ,just can't take them without feeling like a zombie, but i found great relief when they jacked up my dose to 300mg x 2 per day of Tramadol Slow release, i never felt any brain fog with it & it defiantly helped me a lot.
I can understand your frustration not being able to take yourself were ever you want to go, is it the PN thats causing this or the medications or the combo?
good luck anyway mate,
Brian

Lucky, mate! 600mgs SR?
I wish my docs would do that.
I take 100mg 4x/day (400mgs) and that's the max they'll give me.

Yeah Bob, it was actually my GP that put it up from 200 mg SR to 300 SR, i use to take 1 tab of 200 mg plus 1 more tab of 100 mg every 12 hours.

My GP would ring for a Government authority and was approved every time, which meant i would get 3 times the normal amount of tabs on 1 script, for the price of one, i think it was only $3.80 back then [ pension rate ] plus 5 repeats scripts as well.

Only once i went to different pharmacy then usual and the pharmacist woman told me it was to much, she said the limit is 200 mg with Tramadol, but my neuro just nodded his head when i told him how much Tramadol i was on, and when i told my GP what the pharmacist had said, he got real snakey and said she is only a pill dispenser & she shouldn't question my scripts.

Default Hi Dorvad

I think there is some good news in that posting, in some way. I know that you need a car in Camden to get around.

THe shaking/jitters is from nerves being stimulated. This happened to me with a shiatsu foot massager that I have. I used it for 2 weeks straight and started twitching and pulsating.

I am now looking into various therapies because I am in need of some body work myself.

Good luck matey.
