I think R-lipoic acid is better, but I will let Mrs.D comment on that. But I would add Benfotiamine to your list of supplements.

Hope you are well on your way to recovery, it is a long slow road. I don't trust drugs at all, or doctors, for that matter. They are both needed but not wanted, ha!
