Default How to stop SFN sensations?

Hi,
I posted a few times this past summer about some problems I have been having. In summary I tested positive and then later negative for large fiber neuropathy (through emg/ncv) but continued to have problems with tingling, burning, and shocking pains. I am still working to get a skin biospy scheduled (my doctor is trying to coordinate a time when i am home from college - i already had a positive (slightly) QSART) but in the mean time i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for preventing the sensations from occuring. They seem to come when i get overheated (which i feel like i am always too hot now ... does this mean anything?) and now that it is cold out the transition from outside to inside (especialy in pants) seems to trigger my symptoms alot. Just looking for suggestion to tide me over until the biopsy. thanks so much!

I too am overly hot most of the time so I think that is a symptom. Loose clothing helps, I cannot stand tight waistbands or footwear.
Are you taking medication yet ?
Some of the supplements may help you.

Yeah I just feel like I cant cool down (or it takes a long time) and then when I get too warm i get sensations throughout my body. No I am not taking medications yet...hopefully after the skin biopsy (and official diagnosis) they will have an idea of what kind of meds will help (but it will prob be at least another month until i get the biopsy). What kind of supplements are you referring to?

thanks so much!

There are a number of supplements people here take, stabālised alpha lipoic acid, pantothenic acid, Benfothiamine, l-theanine and folic acid ( excuse the spelling of some of these, I have had my Lidocaine Infusion today and it leaves me groggy) are the ones I take. The stickies at the top of the page will give you more info so that you can decide which ones to take yourself.
