I just started using a hair treatment by dad uses. It's called Folligen Spray and made with Copper Peptides. I actually ordered it from America. I have a dry, sensetive, itchy scalp and it's suppose to fix that problem naturally.
It's got a very tinny/copper smell to it, and it's a bit gross, but if it works I can push through. I did not overuse it I just used 4 spray pumps along hairline. It flared my PN on my head and face and then slowly everywhere really, and it was going on all night. Plus I also had some mild stomach cramps and mild nausea after using it? It's suppose to be natural and good for your hair. I am not sure why it irritated my nerves hat much and also cause nausea?? Does anyone know anything about it? Thank you!!! These are the ingredients:

http://www.livestrong.com/article/46...d-soy-protein/ Glutamate is a neuro-excito-toxin... it stimulates the NMDA receptors in your brain and spinal cord, which create pain signals. Another name for this is MSG a common food additive. This might be the culprit if you have a systemic effect. Also the copper may be absorbed, and if your zinc is low then you would have an improper copper/zinc ratio. I don't know about the nausea. But I do know that if you use a product with this one that is a conditioner, that would drive the hair product deeper into the scalp and perhaps into the brain. Studies have shown that lindane for head lice can cause brain damage when used on the scalp and this is accelerated if conditioners are used with or before it. The process is like the transdermal gels used to deliver drugs locally thru the skin. Those other ingredients --some sound like surfactants, which could do the same thing. So yes it is possible that this product could be irritating to some people, especially those with nerve damage already.

Speaking of hair, what about Rogaine for women? Is that safe?

I normally don't have an issue with any shampoos/conditioners. I do have a problem with hair dyes though because I have trigimenal neuropathy so real strong whatever on my head will irritate those nerves.
I thought it may have been the copper. I have Very mild Gilbert's. I have never been jaundiced, but i am low on one of my enzymes and I thought that sometimes my body doesn't clear chemicals as it should. Anyways I remember a few years ago I had a painter paint my house. I told him to use water based paint which he did. But he revarnished all the doors and window frames. That night when I came home I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. At about midnight I drove to a hotel. The smell of the varnish flared my PN badly especially my cranial PN and I just couldn't stand it. So I am not sure if this pinpoints to anything in particular, as I don't seem to have overt sensitivity to anything in particular and no allergies, but my nerves will get very irritated with certain things such as hair dyes, solvents ect. Thank you |

Hi Sally, I am not sure. There is a good site called hairlosstalk, and a section there for women. You may be able to get some information. I have a lot of hair but I loose a lot due to my Graves and an inflamed itchy scalp. You may want to start with a special shampoo (DHT) blocker, Biotin vitamins, olive oil or Emu oil in hair at night, and a vitamin spray on hair. All of which are organic and good for hair and scalp, if you are worried about toxicity. |

The propylparaben is considered a "high hazard" ingredient on Skin Deep. And any synthetic fragrance would be a red flag too.

I am unable to wear anything yellow, even yellow gold in my ears. But especially yellow costume jewelry anywhere on me or I break out in rashes. So maybe I do have some metals allergy after all?
I googled copper allergy and one of the symptoms was nausea, like I had the other day. Though I know our bodies require copper. All too hard. |

Nickel is a problem for me. It causes contact dermatitis. It's found in most costume jewelry.

You have to be really careful with cosmetics... they contain
surfactants which solubilize things and drive them thru the skin into the body. Hair conditioners are examples. This link gives a long boatload of chemicals in hair conditioners. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_conditioner It has been already shown with lindane RX products that they become far more toxic when used with hair conditioners!
