Hey guys..depressing old me again..
![]() Every single day I have burning inside my stomach/guts..like ulcers everywhere ..I haven't noticed if it flares when I eat..but I think its pretty constant unless the meds are doing their job. Anyway does anyone else have burning in their "guts"? Its awful. I tried antacids just in case ..didn't do anything. So I have to assume its part of the PN Thanks friends. Have a nice weekend. |

Yep, I have it. I think it's gastroparesis, but nobody has confirmed that yet. My GP has me taking zoloft to help with the actual pain/nausea, which is actually helping. I can't eat much at once (like half a sandwich sometimes), being too full is very uncomfortable. I eat about half of what a normal person would eat. I drink a lot of soda (3-4 a day) and it seems to fend off my hunger. I started to become a soda addict with migraines, as the caffeine helps them. I shouldn't be drinking them at all. I've read that liquidy stuff is good for this issue as it goes through your body easier. There isn't any particular food that makes it better or worse, for me. If I don't get enough sleep it hurts more. I do not have IBS nor ulcers. I thought for a while I did have ulcers or something causing it, but the zoloft totally helped, so I guess not, thankfully. Something like Tums didn't help at all either.
Hopefully somebody has a better answer for both of us. I'd love to get more info. |

Hmm, interesting. I'm sorry that you are suffering.
It doesn't sound like what I experience though..no nausea or inability to eat a lot. Just burning inside my stomach. The same burning that I feel in other parts of my body affected by neuropathy. I have never done well with anti depressants, but I'm happy that zoloft helps you. And yes, soda is horrible for your health ![]() When you find a better solution, I'm sure you will switch over. I smoke ciggys, so I'm not one to talk! Tomorrow I'll try to note if it is worse when I eat. That could be an important clue. ![]() |

Hi Featherbullet,
I found these boards when I was struggling for a diagnosis, any diagnosis, for my issues. I felt alone even here because I didn't have the tingling or burning. Just pain. My general practicioner decided my diagnosis was idiopathic PN of the large intestine. I went through an endoscopy - they found h.pylori but that didn't clear the pain. I went through a colonoscopy where they found pre-cancerous polyps. A 2nd colonoscopy confirmed they got them all. Then I had an exploratory laproscopy looking for endometriosis, where they didn't find any - but did remove my appendix. Again no change in pain level. They referred me to another surgeon, who refused to listen to my experience. So I halted all treatment, which kept me house bound, and mostly bed ridden, curled in a ball. My pain is in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen. Exactly where the appendix would be, but on the other side. The Cymbalta was prescribed and finally I could have good days again. I only took it for a month and then figured out how to better manage my symptoms. I cut out all fried foods and most meat products. I eat meat about once a month now, and definately never anything fried or overly greasy. I can minimize my flairs in my intestines. Now, after 2 years of healthy management... Now I get the tingling, the numbness, the weakness, and the pain in my hands and feet. I don't think our stomach pains are similar, but I wanted to let you know there are others out there. That someone does know your frusteration, and depression when new symptoms pop up just when you were managing the others. I know we've spoke before and you can't do the Cymbalta, but I hope you get some relief from your new symptom or concern. |

Hey guys, I am still hanging around..
I just wanted to revive this thread, in case anyone else has info they would like to ad. It seems that I should have a procedure to look inside my stomach-but do I need a gastroenterologist referral to book this? If I do, that will take nearly a year. The razor blade feeling still persists. I wonder if this is gluten related, or gastroperesis? I can't eat a lot at once or else I get very bloated. But that doesn't explain the pain. All I can do is take pain meds. Perhaps its time to try an anti depressant again. I do have a prescription for zoloft. My doc says it is the most studied ssri and has the best results. I am hesitant, because I have tried SO many-and they make me quite I'll or don't work at all. I have a personality disorder, and I think that complicates things. I also wonder if it is safe to take with lyrica, and narcotics. It would just be masking the problem as well. I don't have any upcoming appointments, so I'm feeling discouraged. I find a heating pad is helpful, but not always convenient. Maybe I will try my marshmallow root capsules again-to sooth mucus membranes. Any advice? Thank you !! Silver |

hi lined in silver.
I think with the kind og gastro symptoms you are mentioning, you should have a consult with a gastroenterologist. And yes, you probably do need a referral, all depending on your insuranse. I have a open acess insurance, so I do not need referral. But you live in Canada, do you not? So then, yes in your healthcare system you need a referral. You might need to be tested for autonomic neuropathy and this could be the reason for GI fullness. and burning. You might need a test called Gastric Emptying study to rule out gastrophoresis. If you have this, you might have to be on small frequent meals, and on a Acid reducer such as Protonix. |
