Dear Mrs D, My primary doctor nurse called me and said that he is switching me from neurotin to lyrica. Does lyrica deplete any known nutrients that you know of. Before my blood sugars got under control, I had neuropathy for 2 years before my a1c started looking good and my neuropathy has gotten worse and is still getting worse. This week I am having for the first time difficulty swallowing from the neuropathy and my hand writing is worse. I bought some slow mag magnesium last wednesday and so far my saliva glands have opened up a little to where my mouth is not as dry. I also bought some 100mg qunol ultra coq10 as well. Even though my a1c is in the low 5s for the past year (14 months), should i see a endocrinologist. Please let me know about lyrica depletion and whether I should see a endo since my neuro last year told me there was no cure for my neuropathy, thank you.

There are no recorded depletions yet for Lyrica. Non listed yet that I have found for gabapentin, either.
Lyrica does not work for everyone, however, so keep an open mind about that.

There are studies showing improvements in patients with most neuropathies.
The inherited types called CMT have no cure really, and if that is what your doctor referred to, he is correct. However, there are many studies showing neuropathy can improve some, heal some, with specific attention to some nutrients. An Endo won't know much about neuropathy. Endos are for diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, etc.
