I am on lyrica 75mg in the morning only. Even at 75 mg I feel my burning pain is managed by this drug. But I read on the list of side effects only tonight under Nervous System (9% neuropathy, 20% ataxia, parasthesis, neuralgia, and Gillian Barre). Now I am thinking how would someone like me notice if they get neuropathy or More/ different neuropathy from using lyrica? Does this drug really cause the same problem that it's being prescribed to treat??
Any information on this old be very appreciated. Thank you!!

Lyrica and gabapentin work in the spinal cord to block the formation of new synapses for sensory pain... this is the newest theory.... When removed (discontinued), the pain will return, and some people do post that it can be worse.
There is no way around this potential... that anyone knows of. People on Lyrica tend to become tolerant at lower doses, and need upping and that is worrisome too. Some people have a terrible time getting off Lyrica.

Just to reiterate, your saying that cessation of the Lyrica can cause a reoccurrence of the neuropathy/ parasthesis, which you already had before taking it. Not that the lyrica is the actual cause of the neuropathy and parasthesis?
When I read the side effects, it reads as if the side effects mentioned above are direct symptoms caused by taking the actual drug. So this is incorrect? |

This is a link to Lyrica on DrugCite. It is a collection of reported side effects to the FDA...
http://www.drugcite.com/?q=Lyrica Paresthesias are listed, but those are different from neuropathy. I am not aware that Lyrica causes PN... but there can be rebound of pain, after discontinuing it. I suppose it depends on the semantics used?
