This may have very widespread implications for people who suffer from RSD/CRPS and from idiopathic small-fiber neuropathies as well.

I wonder what's responsible for the increase in sensory nerve fibers at specific sites within the blood vessels of the skin. Are you born with it? Is it hormonal imbalances that cause increased growth of the nerve fibers since it's mostly women effected by fibro?

I've been thinking about this overnight.

There are accupressure points in the palms. Historically they have been been considered chakras by those who believe in that.
So they have had a history of "energy" in various cultures.

Maybe some more articles will be forthcoming on this interesting discovery!

Oh, yes. Dermatomes are tissue maps that show how various tissues arise from the developing embryo. The nerves that grow out from the spine follow certain pathways in the body to the limbs etc.
