Default Neuropathy symptoms worsening quickly

Hello I'm new. Recently diagnosed with hypoglycemia, b12 deficiency and
Sensory neuropathy. My PN symptoms are getting worse by the day it seems. I've been doing good on my Diet and gotten 2 B12 shots in the
Last month. I have a follow up with My GP next week. I haven't been to a specialist yet. Should I be concerned at how quickly this is happening and make my appt closer? I'm still learning and have so many questions.

Hi, Julie. You'll get more knowledgeable responses from others on this board (there's a ton of collective expertise and experience here), but I'll just say two things based on my experience. First, PN symptoms don't always follow the same trajectory; they can get worse quickly, then stabilize, then decrease a little, and so forth. So don't despair. But second, yes, I would definitely try to follow up soon with your GP, *and* try to get him or her to refer you to a neurologist soon. it can take a long time to get in to see a specialist, but (again in my experience) just having an appointment with one can allay anxieties a little.

Good luck!

Both hypoglycemia and low Vit.B12 can damage the nerves. It is good news that you know this now than later. You can correct it! once your BS is stabilized and your Vit.B12 has normalized, hopefully your neuropathy will improve.

Oral Vit.B12 (methycobalamin) is as good as the injectable. you need to take the vitamin on an empty stomach. I started on 2500 mcg daily and when i reached my goal, I just maintain it to 1000mcg daily. There has been no studies that show toxicity level for vitamin b12 so, its relatively safe.

I am sure your doctor told you that hypoglycemia is not treated. Your best bet is a good balanced diet--- small but frequent meals.

Good luck.

I have been diagnosed with neuropathy due to lack of b12 that may have been going on for years. when I found out, it was already too late, even with a shot every month, the pain persists and there is no getting better. If the temperature is under 70 I am miserable. when home, have to cover my face over the ears, and across the nose with a scarf. I look like a freak. I have stopped taking different drugs, they give me nausea and get vilantly sick, I have to bite the bullet when I have to leave the house in public.
