Anybody heard of neuropathy from acid reflux damaging the vagus nerve? I been doing some reading and even though I don't have blood sugar problems a lot of what I have found is that my problems are similar to having diabetic neuropathy which can come from gastreoparesis and damage to the vagus nerve. I have tried to explain to each one of my ten or more doctors that my neuropathy is directly related to my stomach somehow. When I eat I have no neuropathy because I the rawness of my throat and stomach( gastritis) is soothed by food. Also I have some glut/licorice/aloe drink I use for really bad days. Its expensive so I only use it for bad breakouts but I will take it and it will make my stinging feet fell like normal in ten seconds and last for an hour. If I eat something that someone should not eat that has reflux my nerves are on fire (chocolate, spicy foods, caffeine....) I also have been having heart problems ( currently wearing a holter to find exactly whats going on)which lead me to the whole vagus nerve being damaged causing problems with my heart and the rest of the nerves in my body. I been on PPI for 6 years and did fine on them but all of a sudden now they make my neuropathy worse. Been off of them for 6 months but if I were to take one today my nerves would be flamed up really bad. I already take a bunch of supplements that help but if my stomach isn't happy then nothing else is happy.

How can I heal my vegus nerve?

Maybe you should try going gluten free for a couple of weeks to see if that makes any difference to your stomach.

I came acrossed his article as well. I wondered about the high RLA. I take it already and it does help but not sure about high doses.

I been gluten free for a few months. I went gluten free and kept testing it and everytime I tried any my nerves would flare up. I got tested and my doctor said that my blood tests were normal but it does bother me. I tell my doctors I would only eat dog poop if I knew it would make me better. I am that motivated to get back to a better life.

I've been tested for diabetes numerous times by numerous tests—always negative. Yet anytime I get into sugar/sugar alcohols, or white carbs, my PN goes BANANAS. Listen to your body. Sounds like you are—just letting you know you're not alone in being petard-hoisted by tests.

Lewie, I wonder if you have tried Pepto Bismol?

This product has been used to heal ulcers in the GI tract because the bismuth part of it has antibacterial properties.

I seem to recall that you mentioned to me once that you felt better
on antibiotics? If so, that may point to trying the Pepto. It will color your stool dark/black, but that is normal.

Also another soothing thing to try for your throat and stomach gastritis/inflammation would be Slipperly elm.

I will try the slippery elm. Pepto bismol works really good for me. Only problem is it gives me horrible diarrhea.

That is odd... Pepto is usually constipating...it is used for minor diarrhea.

You may be intolerant of salicylates. These are in food, aspirin and Pepto.

Maybe it is the salicylate content that is inflaming your stomach?

I will look into it. I got some slippery elm. The best part is it makes me burp, and the burps taste like sausage and maple syrup. Things I haven't been able to eat for almost a year.
