I'd try Kefir... this fermented milk product restores the good bacteria to your GI tract better than yogurt. In the US we have Lifeway brand with 12 strains of probiotic in it.
Bloat often comes from the bacteria in your bowel fermenting your food...producing gas. If you have poor acid in the stomach the bloat can be from fermenting protein, which does not get broken down by the needed acid properly. Also some carbs will cause bloat too... especially the "gums" like guar gum or carob bean gum that are commonly added to processed foods to thicken them. (I got tremendous problems from Chobani Greek yogurt with locust bean gum (same as carob) added to it. ) When people have a history during their lives of many antibiotics, then the flora in the bowel changes, and all sorts of uncomfortable and unnatural things happen to digestion. Another culprit is malted barley flour...which seems to be in almost all breads today. Malt is a laxative and in some people really causes gas, too. Because I have a birth defect...called malrotation, I am very sensitive to some foods, that produce gas --more so than other people, because my intestines are twisted up into a tight ball instead of being spread out. So any gas for me is quite painful and causes terrible grief when present. So do look into your food, read labels carefully, and see if that helps. If you use acid blocking drugs you will get gas as a side effect of them, and you will lower the beneficial acid in the stomach leading to poor digestion.

Thanks zorro just another delightful symptom to deal with then
![]() Mrs d thanks for all the info, will certainly look out for kefir, did try acidophillus but didn't seem to help. Do use omeperazole daily so that won't be helping then, didn't realise so many things added to bread! Stay well Linda |

It might be worth it to see an allergist. I used to get really bad bloating after eating even small amounts. Having mild food allergies or intolerance's can cause that.

If you have PN, then you may also have some autonomic neuropathy and subsequent GI problems, like gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying).
You should consider a consult with a GI doctor if your symptoms don't improve or get worse. |

Idiopathic means they do not know the cause. Hope you find an answer.

Thanks Kitt, have had PN since 2009 so don't suppose I'll find a cause now. Noticed after a while you just take it as it comes and don't bother so much to find a reason, like you say it is what it is
Take care Linda |
