We have threads here on relaxation exercises and hypnosis.

Just use the search engine to find them.

Some people are difficult to hypnotize and others not. So it can work well for some people. You can learn autohypnosis, which is a consciousness changing type of meditation. I've done it for many decades...learned it for my art work imagery strengthening...and found it works well for pain too.
