Yes, I'd start some methylcobalamin (which is the active type) once a day on an empty stomach (no food for about an hour after).

1000mcg (1 mg) should be enough, but it would be better and faster to take slightly more for about 3 months to get going.
you can do 2000mcg to 5000mcg --it is your choice.

Keep things simple to start...so you can see what is working best. Some people don't need as much as others, so introducing things slowly is more revealing and saves money.
