Default My high fat nerve health update

It's been 2 weeks and I'm back to report the results so far with my experiment.

1. I have noticed a fair improvement in my sleep.
My pain level is lower and although I am not healed yet, I am getting stronger and able to do more things.
2. Autonomic symptoms are improving (when I stand from sitting or bending down, I can get back up without as much disorientation and everything going black.
3. Cognitive function is improving, less brain fog.
4. Vision is not as blurry.
5. Muscle spasms are not as severe

What I'm doing (the short version):
1. Avoiding all grains and legumes, and high glycemic fruit.
2. Consuming large quantities of clarified butter, olive oil, coconut oil, and salt.
3. Eating meat much more meat than I am used to.
4. Taking 5000 vitamin D, cod liver oil, 2 grams DHA/EPA, high quality multi, (I am taking other supplements, but they are specific to my case and might not be beneficial or needed by others).
5. Eating fermented food everyday
6. Facing the sun with my naked eyes in the mornings for 15 minutes.
7. Walking and gentle yoga most days depending on what my endurance and ability is.

Note* my diet and fitness regimen was very good before this wild idiopathic neurological illness struck me, so I felt the need to a drastic experiment before deciding on steroids, plaquenil, or possible lyme/ bartonella treatment. I wanted to see if burring ketones would facilitate healing and it seems to be helping.

I still have some nerve pain, muscle, joint pain throughout various body parts randomly coming and going, some buzzing, numbness and tingling, mild dizziness at times, muscle twitches everywhere at random times, mild tremor in hands (but I was able to give myself a manicure the other day and it came out straight).
Bottom line: I am functioning despite the neuropathy. I have limits, but I am being respectful to myself and grateful for everything I am doing these days and comparing now to 3 months ago.

To tell the truth I am not enjoying eating this much fat or meat, however, since there have been improvements, I am going to continue for another 2 weeks and report back before making modifications.

I really miss rice and beans.

The other good news is that I am emotionally starting to feel more like the "real me". I have had to put my holistic health coaching practice aside due to being debilitated since Sept last year. I never thought anything like this could happen to a healthy person out of the blue. I am going to see how the summer goes and I hope to be able reopen my practice and devote it to neuropathy and autoimmunity. I am very excited about this!

Excellent, excellent news, HG.

I'm right there with you on the meat eating thing. I've been reading about a low carb Mediterranean way of eating lately, and think I'm going to go in that direction soon.

Hi, can I ask if you have lost weight? I did a paleo type diet for a while and it did help with the rheumatic prob, stomach and general well being. Neuropathy did continue and I lost bulk Iddidn't want to lose. My diet wasn't the same as yours exactly. I ate lots of fruit. I still eat lots of coconut oil as I love it. Is high glycemic basically fruits?

Talking I had a vision

You say that you face the sun for 15 min/day. Have you ever dug out the sod or moved the mulch enough to get your bare feet in contact with the actual dirt? We are electrical in so many processes. If this helps, I am willing to take any credit. If it fails or you get worse, chaulk it up as one of the many trials on the path to being as great as you are going to be. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.

Berries would be considered a low glycemic fruit.

I'm not sure if I would be able to maintain weight without a major carb source. I tried eating no carbs or very low carbs and eating healthy fats. I lost about 10 lbs. Now that I started in the gym again, I need to up my carbs again to put on some muscle.

I actually gained 4 pounds. I didn't need to gain or lose so for now I'll take the weight as my body seems to be in repair phase.

The fruits I'm eating right now are berries and cherries.

Yes, I have not stopped doing that. I have "earthed" all my life before I even knew it was cool I also believe in it- so you get credit for even mentioning it.

The way my legs are twitching today, it feels like some kind of electrical breakdown going on in there Maybe earthing would let all that energy go to ground. Too bad its in the 40's today - I'll probably have to wait for a warmer day to try this............
