Well, she didn't say that I had Sjogren's for sure, but she did say that I do have the symptoms and of course, the antibodies. My thyroid problems seem to be having some effect on the ability of the steroids to work as well as they have before and frankly, today is a whiny day... There are some, not many, Sjogren's sufferers, who can control at least some of their disease with steroids... Yuk... I do NOT like steroids, but I may be stuck with these...
One thing she did was bump up my Doxycycline dose, because in the past it has helped reduce the C-Reactive Protein level-an indicator of inflammation somewhere... This would be nice... Since the diagnosis is still in question, she may try Imuran, which I am not overly excited about either, but what do you do??? The nurse said if I did have Sjogren's, I would not be gettting IVIGG's, but the doctor came out as I was leaving and countered that, so... I think that still leaves me in: I have it/I don't have it/I might have it/I don't know if I have it or not... I do like this doctor though... Cathie |

Hi. Did she say when or if you would know for sure? I hate when the doc and their nurse says different things. That happened to me yesterday too. I'm glad you like the doc that is so important. I hope the up in meds help too. Sending many healthy thoughts.

NOW why on earth would the 'Nurse' say you mite not get IVIG when it is a first level, not off-label [as is my case] approved therapy for Sjogren's? Yet the actual DOC isn't ruling it out? Believe me, what is it with docs in Texas? I mean My neuro was Texas schooled and he's definitely NOT got that bias!
My own blood tests have shown that the auto-i levels on IVIG differed before and after, I feel that it's working and because I'm not on the steroids, I had less bone loss [until I went on the AI's for cancer] than I would have otherwise. I also had a thryroid 'flare up' in between it all...and not one doc, only the endo I recently saw thought to connect any dots...I have now over 14 docs 'overseeing' my 'care'.. It does get frightening, doesn't it? I will PM you some info on it...to back me up on my humble opinion - ![]() |
