Default Another viewpoint including Iodine

A friend on another group I'm a member sent this thru. I've been dosing with Iodine for some yrs now. I take 2-5 drops of Iosol in distilled water daily. This view talks about iodine and nerves. Interesting, so thought I'd post. Don't know if iodine has been talked about here over the years.

Personally, when I've skipped my iodine for whatever reason, I end up with breast pain/tenderness. I just don't miss a day now.

Some of what Dr. Kruse talks about seems a bit "out in left field" - but he seems pretty accurate in his supplementation recommendations for neuropathy. I have taken iodine (kelp) for at leat 6 months now. Started on two tablets a day and recently went down to one. Hard to say how much it has helped since its one of multiple supplements I take.

I agree about his ideas about supplements. I found an interesting article about exceeding the recommended amount of Iodine, etc.

He has a list of possible idiopathic causes of neuropathy.

It seems to me that he is speaking more of Iodine when the neuropathy is a result of low thyroid. That's not the case for everyone. Looks like he has a list of possible reasons. Low thyroid being one, and treating it with Iodine supplementation a possible course of action.

It would be pretty dangerous for him to assume that everyone with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy having low iodine. Especially when you can be easily tested for low iodine. I wouldn't begin Iodine supplementation without talking to a endocrinologist.

I do agree with a lot of what he says. He also gives a timetable for nerve repair and speaks as if the condition isn't permanent. Which is very uplifting in theory but if the underlying cause is not found neuropathy is not going to go away, and even when the cause is found it usually merely be stopped from progression and not reversed.

I think I posted that link because I fear sometimes people are so desperate for relief that they will take much more than the product’s recommended dose without knowing the ramifications or if they are deficient in it. Many things our bodies produce naturally. Some of the vitamins/supplements we take will not harm us if we take too much as we urinate out what we don't need. Then there are some that have a potential for harm and it's good to know which ones.

Bringing this up again. Talking to some other folks about soy consumption and how much the japanese consume AND how much iodine they consume. Wonder how much neuropathy these people have.

Our soy world in the U.S. is primarily GMO produced soy. And all the fluoride consumed pulls iodine from our bodies.

I still dose with my Iosol daily. And avoid soy. So much info on soy consumption and thyroid dsyfunction. Maybe the Japanese balance things out with their soy and iodine consumption.

Also wonder if joint replacements are many in Japan.

I am forever questioning our health system.
