Default Nerve attack from laughing
Last night I was watching tv and started cracking up. All of a sudden my face was tight and I wasn't breathing properly, my hands went almost numb, heart was pounding. Needless to say, the laughter stopped and then I started crying. My arms went so incredibly weak. I was shaking and light headed.
I just have to say that I am not coping well today and the pain in my neck and arms is like I used my muscles for major weight training. All I did was laugh.

Oh do I relate! Hope you are feeling better now.

I get mine from yawning. If I'm not paying attention and yawn without tensing my body, something moves and presses on something and sets off that cascade you described.

I've tried to describe them as burners or stingers (which sports med docs understand) and even spoke to neurosurgeon about them, but everyone blows it off like it's a minor musculoskeletal issue. Just once I'd like to see them have a crazy attack like that and tell me it's minor.

Yawning issues were one of my first symptoms. I would start yawning at night and then something would happen where my eyes would pour tears and the yawning would not stop. It would go like 30 times with heart palps and weird electric surges in my spine/ torso up through neck and head. From what I gather this is vagus nerve damage?

Healthgirl I so wish I had words of advice or anything to suggest. Hopefully someone out there does. I am putting out all the positive energy I have for this to pass quickly.

I guess I'm fortunate that I haven't progressed to that point. I shall pray for your remission.

Geez ...really sorry to hear this. This disease seems to have no boundaries. I hope this ends quickly.
