I cannot open a newspaper without seeing 3-5 doctors (usually chiropractors) saying they have a FDA approved treatment for neuropathy. What is it? Has anyone done this? I don't have sfpn (thought I did) but am suspicious of this because only chiropractors offer it. If it's such a miracle cure, why isn't everyone talking about it?

From a quick search "FDA approved treatment for neuropathy chiropractic", there seem to be quite a few chiropractic clinics which offer treatments for neuropathy which have been approved by the FDA.

However the ones that I have found (I might have missed something) are generally vague on the details and do not say whether the treatment has been approved by the FDA in the specific context of neuropathy.

These "FDA approved" treatments are probably variations on TENS devices. The Rebuilder is sold thru chiros now, and some are using Calmare treatments which is also a type of TENS device. The devices are approved safe by the FDA along with TENS but they are not FDA approved in the same way as FDA approved drugs. They do not have to provide evidence of effectiveness or "cure".

Some Chiros also use cold laser treatments too. So in order to get more information you need to contact one that advertises and get more details, as they may be pushing different modalities. All of them cost alot. Rebuilder is more than $600 and the Calmare is also quite expensive, but done in the office.

Usually this claim that "FDA approved" is a come on of sorts.
The specifications for the application of electrical energy is screened by FDA regulations so people won't be injured. But that approval does not claim therapeutic success as it does with drugs approved by the FDA.

Recently some TENs devices are available without a prescription for home use. The Rebuilder is one of those. (if you search the name here on PN forum you will find threads with people who had some success with it, failed with it and some even who got stiffed by the guarantee offered.

I thought it all sounded too good to be true. Thanks for doing the research for me.

You can get a TENS unit on Amazon really inexpensive. Also there are youtube videos on how use it. I use it. Also I go to a chiropractor (in addition to a neurologist, rheumatologist and psychiatrist for treatment of my neuropathy) and he does acupuncture. His approach is totally different. I have been seeing him for about 8 months, over whichI have seen a marked improvement. I don't know if it is what he does, but in combination with the other therapies, something seems to be working

At this moment there is cure available however there a swiss company how is developing something,in2017 a phase 2 study will take place ending in 2018.
There main focus will be on diabetic neuropathy.But i think it will take at least 4 years or longer before will be something that will be on the market

I believe there is a treatment which will be available in the next few years called ARA290 which is currently in clinical trials. Not sure if it will be for only specific causes of SFN but hopefully in future this may be an option for others.
