Default I'm Home

Very long day! Been gone over 7 hours just to doctor and dentist - but will try to make sense before I hit the sack! My GP is awesome - never met a more caring doctor - and he showed it again today..... I showed him the form the Neuro had filled out and asked if he could speak with him... he promised he would tomorrow - hoping the insurance company wont notice how late the form will be and that the neuro will do as the GP requests... the GP had lots of comments on the form - like "is he kidding?" - was apalled at the charge to complete the forms (they wanted $400.00) - and told me that he never refers patients to this doc - even though he's been there 10 years - because of his bedside manner and the way the office is run.... so it wasnt just me.... I told him I've had some good experiences with the nueruo - he said frankly that was unusual and wants me to see someone different.... so - I'm going to follow up Monday with neruo and see if form has been changed - (keeping fingers crossed) - and then send in and hope the LTD folks wont get me on the delay in the form.....

Anyway, we'll see what happens - but this guy is really going to bat for me - and is in constant touch with all my docs - which I've never encountered before.....

Off to bed - long long day - and tons of LA traffic to boot! But will keep you updated - and thanks again for all the support.....

Yeah, it really sounds like your GP is a doll.

And, a doctor is allowed to charge $400 for filling out forms?? Really?? Isn't that breaking the law or something?? I have never known this.

I've brought many forms during my life to various doctors. I never even thought that I could be charged for this.

Wow, this is eye-opening.

I hope you don't have to pay the $400.00

jeez.

Default Melody..this is the medical

disability world of TODAY. Consider yourself fortunate to have gotten yours when you did. Goodness help you should there be a review?
Kmebs LTD company is a notorious scumbag organization..Read this then seek for more....
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/...in529376.shtml

They are still doing their 'thing' and can get away with it ....Go web them up and read their financial report...This company exists to make money...not actually pay out...there is NO reference to the actual payees served, nor discontinued.. only what the 'payback' for investment in their co is....Kind of sounds like ENRON to me...but I am merely a person who can't 'handle' numbers in the billions...only the millions?

Whole thing puts FUR on my chest - probably to keep off the chills of dread? - j

Sleep well. I'll be continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers and vibing like crazy for a postive outcome to all this. I'm relieved you're getting some good support and feedback from your GP. Sometimes good docs are hard to find. But, you've gotten lucky.

Hope you're able to get it all sorted out. It's ridiculous, the hoops you have to go through for Unum. Filling out the same paperwork over and over, being forced to see their bogus medical "professionals" who claim you can work, getting repeated phone calls just to make sure you are home, being videotaped whenever you leave the house.

I've got a long-term disability insurance company too, and they terminated benefits this month. They claim I have somatoform disorder despite seven years worth of medical records to the contrary. This is so they can use their 24 month mental illness limitation.

I'm fighting them and have a lawyer involved. Not just for me, but for all the genuinely disabled people whose claims they have denied. The part that really sucks is that I'll probably have to go without benefits for a couple of years while we reach some kind of settlement, and I have no idea how I will survive financially until then.

Glad you have a good GP at least. Now if you can just find a competent specialist, that should really help.

Let us know how it goes.

Kmeb,
Hope your PCP's intervention helps.
Having 'j.' go to bat for you is solid ammunition.
Of course, you've written a letter of dispute about his comments, and demanded that it be placed in your permanent file, then requested a copy of your files to hand deliver to your new neuro after you fire his ***** !
Things will turn out OK, hang in there.

Great news Kmeb. I will hope your GP will continue to be strong for you and that things are on the UP from now on. I shall be watching for news and am so glad you did not leave us. I hope you have had a good rest.

Okay, I'm a bit confused. Kmeb has a LTD company.

I have Social Security Disability.

You say medical disability is different today then when I got it. I have been reviewed twice since I am on it and had no problem.

Is her disability different than the social security disability that I am on?

I am on a medicare HMO. Blue cross, etc.

Is this XXXX an HMO (like mine). Sorry to be so thick.

And if XXXX is a medicare HMO, can't she switch HMO's.

thanks

UPDATING THIS POST.
----------------------------------------------------------------

I just clicked on the link and read the whole story about XXXX. I gather that kmeb purchased a disability policy from them in case she became disabled. And they have denied benefits to other people.
So I gather that kmeb is not on Social Security Disability and medicare like Alan and I are on? Am I correct?

I don't mean to pry into kmeb's business but I just wanted to understand the whole XXXX thing.
