I believe punctal plugs for dry eyes are made of silicone as are most catheters. They don't use latex anymore, as guess what....the more people get exposed to latex the more prone they become to latex 'allergy' which is....an autoimmune reaction.
I assisted my daughter with a paper on PFOA, teflon. It is also very dangerous, fumes from cooking will kill a bird in the same room. It will soon be voluntarily withdrawn however, until then, they are marketing it like crazy, to get rid of their stocks of it. We are full of PFOAs, so are polar bears and they don't cook with teflon. The more we consume, the more we expose ourselves. Buying less, using less, even taking less drugs and having fewer procedures.....and going more natural is better. Everything we do has to be weighed for risk versus benefit. Our environment is full of junk. When I got my night splints, the OT put on foam, and then told me not to use them without stockinette, as the foam was 'bad stuff' to expose skin to. You can't stop the autoimmune reaction from occuring as long as you stay exposed and that exposure may be very minimal and occult. Maybe someday they will figure out how to undo the damage. The amount of synthetic chemicals we are exposed to is mind boggling. |

I have a question about teflon frying pans. I am slowly weaning myself off of them. I now use my primary stainless steel frying pan for cooking (other than microwaving). So here's my question. If you dont' want the food to stick, is it still safe to use PAM. Or a similar no-stick spray.
Or will that stuff kill ya like everything else does??? Mel

Teflon... I know stories about that... A friend of mine, who also raised large parrots, put baby bottles on the stove in a teflon pot and fell asleep waiting for them to boil. When she awoke, the house was filled with fumes, the pot had boiled dry, and 3 of her big Blue and Gold Macaws were dead on the floor... Birds' respiratory sacs are extremely sensitive to various insults: teflon, fumes from permanents, insecticides, etc. Wonder what happens to those people who have asthma, emphysema or COPD when they breathe these fumes...
The punctal plugs? Another friend here, who has also suffered from what is believed to be implant related illness, has dry eyes. The Opthamologist put in the silicone punctal plugs. She had finally shown some improvement in her autoimmune illness, but this really rocked the boat. They were promptly removed when she found out what they were made from, not soon enough though. The result was a severe flareup of the PN and other autoimmune issues, which continued for months... I don't use Teflon at all any more. I use heavy Le Creuset. Pam? I don't know about that. When you start seeing a bunch of stuff on an ingredients list that sounds more like it belongs in a chemistry lab, maybe it would be a good idea to skip it... Cathie |

Sue,
I know the pain you are going thru and I'm so very sorry you have this fracture added to everything else. Get a pillow with the tailbone cutout, it will help even tho it doesn't stop the pain. Many hugs to you. ![]() Billye

Monica:
See if you can locate the article LizaJane mentioned on the Medicare claims and various implants. That is not long and he might pay attention to that. I am in a hurry to leave for an appointment and don't have time to find it, but it is posted here somewhere... Dr. Patten's article is good, but pretty long, so I don't know if he would take the time to read that. Also, in the medical community, they don't like to see reports like this, they want to see studies... Unfortunately, we are the study, but it is epidemiological... No one has figured that out yet or cares to... Dumb... ![]() ![]() ![]() The only reports that the medical community pays attention to seem to be things like the people in Arizona who got sick from rats and the Hanta Virus... Boy, the CDC jumped all over that one... Why they will pay attention to that and not 400,000 reports of implant problems to the FDA, is beyond me... Not to take away from their problems, because Hanta Virus is serious, but then, so are ours... An Army Cardiologist in El Paso, some years back, was in court sueing her implant manufacturer over implant related disease. She lost her case... Why??? Because, they felt as a doctor she should have known better... Sue: I read somewhere that the radiation exposure that some of us had as children in their doctor's office, not only exposed them to the possibility of thyroid and head and neck cancer, but it also exposed unknowing people sitting out in the waiting rooms...
