Default OH! Aussie! Is it

like you are actually IN one of those 'snowballs' and being shaken? Or, constantly ask yourself, IS THIS REAL? This shouldn't be happening? It is really a nightmare and beyond.
The only thing I have found,,,, is that my anxiety rate goes up with doctor insensitivity or ignorance...big time!
To overcome this all I have used a lot of 'imagery'...esentially putting your mental self in a better place or time. My best one is on a beach, in the tropics, with a warm sun thru palm trees [so's not to get too burned] with a nice frozen drink nearby and a really classic book...Time to lounge, be lulled, be mildly amused and zone out. In a way, it is a 'quiet place' and I try to retreat there during anything bad...just to REST! When you are in pain and have to try and DO extra stuff you shouldn't or must....you still have to rest and recharge both the body or the mind. It at times, helps you just to charge one part?

Humm. I'll look into how long residuals last, I didn't think so long...and get back to you...S/E's from neurontin/lyrica etc can last weeks w/after effects tho...mfrs do not admit it tho...SO report to your country's drug equivalant of the FDA.. I do know that my own reporting of various drug combos and s/e's has helped change many listings of 'prescription info' to actually show that some s/e's aren't as 'rare' as they really are.

Aussie, I truly hope you get some respite from it all and soon! - j

Aussie, the whole ordeal you went through is enough to upset most people's emotional state, even though the tramadol is probably well gone by now, the shock of being treated so badly does take a while to forget, well not forget really but becomes less important as time goes by as other important things seem to pop up and it becomes less of a priority.
I know i was real angry the way they left me for so long too, i had a go at the complaints department of the hospital not long after, they had all the excuses under the sun, which sounded to me like it was all bull, but i felt better after telling them how slack they really were and my pet gets quicker medical attention than any casualty patient at their hospital [ they had only one GP working in casualty all night too ], in a large regional hospital which is disgraceful in my book.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
take care.
Brian

Default Thanks Brian

The good part is that the paramedics arrived both times in under 10 minutes. The second set of paramedics that came were very nice, and the lady had a very caring way about her. She told me that the hospitals are all overflowing so the best I can do for myself is take a peppermint tea and read a book for a while. She seemed to understand that i was very distressed and I wasn't trying to waste everyones time as every call to the paramedics costs $600. So why would I make 2 calls in 2 days equating to $1200 for the fun of it.

I was talking to my father last night and he said that the tragic medical illnesses in my family have somehow left a scar on me. He and my grandmother had strokes within 3 weeks of each other.I was going from one hospital to another for the longest time as they were in different hospitals. I wasn't allowed to tell grandma that dad also had a stroke so she wouldn't get upset. I kept on telling her he was very busy with work. My brother then had a heart attack on his birthday when he was just 37 years old and almost died. Then my illness.

This history has somehow burnt a hole in me and has made me fearful as I see just how finite our life is. Carrying this with me and going into the emergency room when you feel like you are on the brink of death, just to be scolded and told to sit down and watch the tele is enough to drive you nutter.

Well I don't want to be a downer here, whats done is done. All of us have a cross to bear. Let's think positive happy thoughts. Life is good. I have a loving family, nice home, and a warm bed to sleep in every night. So there's plenty to be thankful for. I hope that all those hours that they kept me waiting, they were actually saving other peoples lives.

I have managed to now be almost 3 years post PN,and I am still here kickin'
