Since my Port surgery last Friday my chest has been burning. So I saw my dr. this morning....he says I have inflammed lungs from the anesthesia! He gave me 2 prescriptions for steriod inhalers that I have to use for 2 weeks.
THEN I saw the Endocrinologist.....more bad news there.....He did an ultrasound on my Thyroid and found 4 nodules, those along with other issues, he's wondering if I'm pre diabetic! So he's scheduled me for some nasty tests in 2 weeks. 2008's not looking any better, healthwise, than 2007

Thyroid nodules are quite common, especially as we age up. I have them. They are seldom serious, but good to get checked out. Try not to lose too much sleep over them....are they looking at a needle biopsy?
With your history, and the fact that you have both neuropathy and myopathy, I am not surprised about the anesthesia problems. Steroids do raise blood sugar, as do some other drugs. I know you are on IVIG, which is a non-factor in blood sugar. I don't know if you are on steroids other than what they just gave you. I wish they would give you some time to heal from all this before they do any real testing regarding the blood sugar stuff. Seems like some down time to let your body heal is warranted....a couple of weeks to heal, normalize....then get tested....all you need is more meds to cause more problems...that may simply be the residual from other things. Lord, how much can one person go thru in a short period of time? I hope you feel better soon. |

That said, promise that you will not ever ask what else could happen? Then it could!
Just go, OK Adding one more to the club or something like that... I myself, would probably take steroids for a short term, but will never, ever take them for the longer term! Just think of this as a sort of 'hiccup' in the long term treatment of all things soo complicated? and then, deal with it like a or something! Roxie? Is this one of those 'road bumps' of life I keep hearing about? 's - j |

Going to get to explore the wonders of liver function...
As Bob B brought up...the wonders of medications...and then the consequences? Does anyone have a nice warm cave, with running water [not too much mind you?] and no hassles that I can go hide in for about...oh...a few centuries? I have to admit, that kind of thing is looking really good rite now. - j |

Just get so tired of doctor's appts.that you are willing to just let whatever happens ...happen? I've had so many the last few weeks. I don't get the bone pain and soreness settled down until I'm having to get back in the car and go to the next one. At least I'm down to one a week...I think.
Roxie, dahlek, I'll be thinking of all of us while I'm sitting in the hard doctor's office chairs. you too Sue. But you know..I'm serious about the "willing to let whatever happens happen thing". Maybe it's a cold winter thing with me. I don't like the cold and I'm almost blind from the hot forced heat. Roxie, I don't know anything about the surgery, but you listen to Cyclops, she knows. So does Mrs. D I believe. Billye

I am getting very tired of Drs. appointments, very much so. Then worry
about what the results will be,can you contiue to keep on keeping on. when I grabbed ahold of my Dr. who has been there for me for many years. My kidney has been a problem for many years..we will get through this again...We I wanted to yell, but I heard the caring so I shut up in time. Oh it never seems like it's going to end,I know what tests they will do,it does make it easier for me but it's not like that for every one..But I also know what can go wrong..Just like Roxie,I knew what could happen, but some Drs. take it for granted Roxie should know..I have rotten veins,I have tests out of the oldest places,I have been at the point, I almost did my own. lol.. My MRI,Cat scans, any blood tests are almost always done on the childens floor..I was lucky to be born with out the fear of needles, but i'm not so good at sticking me. And yes there are some tests i'm afraid of but when they tell me what this new one is,i'm ok. J. ther's a little town in somewhereville,my buddy retired moved to this 500 or 600 hundred square ft. cave,I have the pics. on my old puter. in CA. Very cool inside and easy to keep warm. She has grass or moss over the top. She has some dogs, goats, they eat almost anything. Outdoor cats that roam, and 1 of those big metal sheds, for stuff and a place to do her art work. Which she sells to tourists in town, She has a riding everything including a horse. And she's had MS for years. been through it all..She has a man friend who keeps his horse there, and helps her with her's. He lives in town and she loves ,it no stress unless something rare breaks..But we always have something we have to wait for..I loved it,to visit, but right now,to live sounds good. I never thought of us being there for our commune, guess we could go and look for vacant caves. Sorry Roxie can't sleep, Bob went to air port going on a trip till Monday...I'll call my kids when tests start. Cave can't get me or any of us there, well it would be nice..I wish I had the pics ,might of sent them to my son hmmm. I know your tired Roxie but j doesn't let us say that. Got to say oh shoot...You will be fine ya got that sweet Mike and ,us That's a little scary...It's so cold and I'm getting sleepy..Sorry for butting in Roxie,I wish I could do needle point still. Hugs to all sue. |
