I was taking a look at what Amazon had available for methylcobalamine. That's where I ordered my first bottle from. I came across this:
http://www.amazon.com/Source-Natural...783849&sr=1-13 It says it's Dibencozide. Is this form any better than methylcobalamine? Or no difference? Any information welcome. I've never seen this form before.

I've never seen it, either.
Interesting- no strength listed, just 'Athletic Series' 120 tabs $38.76 Dunno what the mcg's are. iherb has the 60 size bottle http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails....&pid=2454&at=0 and it says..."from 10 mg dibencozide 8.6 mg " (yes mg.) - %DV-143,000%, for $18.86 I use Jarrow 1000,mcg, methylcobalamin - sub lingual. Much less expensive. Maybe Mrs D will have an answer

Hi, I googled Dibencozide, and here's what showed up. Take a look:
By the way, personally, and I've tried other brands, I find Jarrows to be the best (for me). http://www.mindreference.com/Dibenco...CID=C15771x322

I'm just curious if this form would be even more effective than the methylcobalamin form. ETA: Here's what I ordered for the first time on mehylcobalamin: Price is good and it's a dose I need and feel comfortable with. http://www.wonderlabs.com/itemleft.php?itemnum=9842

there was a guy on the old "other" web site who used to experiment with taking different forms and doses of b12 and would post his results with himself and his family. Dibencozide (adenosylcobalamin) was one of those. He was from Utah i think but i dont remember his name. I havent seen him around in a long time. Its a shame but im pretty sure that you wont be able to search for this because all of their archives are on ice.

At the end there before he left he was advocating over 40mg a day... which IMO was rather drastic and only supported on some studies for MS from Japan. I would think medical supervision should be had at that dose range. Here is an article that explains the small differences between methylcobalamin and dibencozide (which has many other names including adenosylcobalamin) http://www.dadamo.com/napharm/store3/template2/b12.htm Quote:
It is just a classification thing. Long ago before I found methylB12 I used Country Life's dibencozide sublingual. They were hard as rocks, and convinced me that not much was getting thru that way. So I chewed them up and swallowed them. There is not much difference that I can see, between the active forms, in that they are both better than cyano. For our purposes Methyl is fine, and preferred I think. And here is a sleep quote (this was my most favored response to MethylB12) Quote:

To work like Viagra a substance has to dilate (or increase nitric oxide), and if anything.. huge use of B12 would make blood thicker, and impair that function IMO. But for cold sports like the Winter Olympics, those cross country, or endurance events, need huge oxygen carrying capablity in the blood. That is why ProCrit was used in doping and finally banned. What can happen to those who try it, is that the blood can become thicker, and sticky and lead to blood clots or stroke. Since most of them are young, it is less likely. But still a risk. Many of those athletes train at high altitudes too, to increase red blood cell concentration....there are lots of tricks...but I don't think many of them affect the below the belt functions. Now if anyone is WORRIED about blood thickening.... older adults can be typically low in blood cell volume. As we age we develop mild anemias. My doctor was ASTOUNDED by my last blood work. She expected this since I am over 60 now. I didn't even get anemic when I was pregnant and had SURGERY and huge blood losses. So I am a special case I guess. When we talk about blood doping or extreme endurance that does not include US here (I hope).
