My hubbie comes home from his monthly rheumatoid visit yesterday, he now has to start methatrexate as he is in powerfull pain. I go to the same guy, now I am wondering if I want to continue.
My husband tells him my wife has me on a good multi-vitamin, magneseum for the leg cramps and then this thing called methyl somethingorother B-12, the doc says "What!! Bring this to your next appointment, that's probably why you are not in remission. I can't tell you the damage folks do to themselves with supplements" he maintains all he needs is a multi, and I maintain this man is an idiot, even my neuro says take all you want, you can't take too much of this vitamin and go with the experts on your neurotalk, go with what works and maybe will help you more in the long run than anything I can prescribe. The biggest thing is it helps my husband and has since the first day he took it, I take it but can't pinpoint that it has improved my neuropathy but it sure hasn't gotten any worse in the last four years!

Which outer planet is this guy from?
Granted that taking some supplements 'timewise' near some supplements can 'enhance' or 'detract' from the meds is an issue, BUT......That is truly archaic thinking I think.
Jannaw, if you wish, Please PM me w/the meds and specific supplements and I can check out 'interactions' .
I would hope that MRSD and ROSE could help you here as well. They know far more about the whole B issue than I, but I do know how to find and read any prescribed meds' 'info' and flag for your the key points that you should deal with.

Oh, did I forget to say that methyl B-12 is one of those most benign of supplements on the menu? More benign I feel than Vit C! Forgive me, I am shuddering rite now at the whole thought.

Better yet, have a MMA test... demand it. To see if B12 is working for him.
Doctors are so ignorant... it makes me sick sometimes to read these posts!

All he knows is cyanocobalamin. (it is in his doctor's cookbook).

My warrior days are over. I did get "into it" occasionally with doctors when I was working retail...but those days are history. (and I never lost the arguments either LOLOL)

I did get some restitution for a bird feeder I bought, and convinced nicely
the maker to replace the base, which was tooled wrong (the tray would not
screw on). The weather this year destroyed out Droll Yankee 30 yr old feeder,
beyond repair (not even duct tape would fix it finally).

So my hubby sicced me on the bird feeder company and voila...they sent out
replacement parts and now our finches are happy happy...For what it cost, it should be perfect!

He never has a return visit,call,they are so rude. just hit him with
that,but he will claim he never said anything like that to your husband,
and after all he's busy bla bla..Some not all Drs. just have to be
right,your's and hubby have one,oh my Dr. dummy from the school
