if you can, borrow or hire one and try it out. I didn't find TENS very useful, so I was glad that I hadn't purchased one. My physio lent me one for a couple of weeks to see if it would be useful. I just had too many areas widely separated areas of severe pain for a TENS machine to deal with it. But, it's been 10 years since I tried it, so maybe they have solved this drawback. These days I am numb rather than in pain, which brings a different set of problems.
