There is one product by Country life you may find locally: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails....247476402&at=0 Some health food stores carry a good selection of Country Life. I have seen this one in stores as well: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=1637&at=0 It is another form of active B12. Most of us here use iherb. They are about 1/2 the price of local stores, fast shipping and reasonable shipping costs. They have a good selection of hard to find items at very low prices. For example, the inositol my husband uses is $12 and locally the same thing is $67.00! Quite a difference! This is the methylcobalamin choices there: http://www.iherb.com/Search.aspx?kw=methylcobalamin Jarrow is the brand I have used for years, and most of the others use too. It is a very good company, and affordable.

Good product selection, good prices, and they carry both their own brands and many of the other widespread ones, such as Jarrow and Country Life. They also run a lot of "specials". No financial interest here, just a happy customer. (And I also order certain things from Iherb at times.) |

I have only one question!!!!
What the heck would most of us do IF WE COULDN'T GET OUR HANDS ON THESE SUPPLEMENTS?? If our lives were solely led up to physicians, well...in my humble opinion, we'd be up the creek without a paddle. I keep reading that doctors are prescribing this pill and that pill AND NO ONE IS TELLING YOU 'this supplement might be a better choice, etc. etc." I know it's ALL ABOUT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR, but cmon, there are lives at stake ...NOT TO MENTION THAT PEOPLE ARE IN PAIN, and if the doctors know that a certain supplement (even if there's a tiny chance), well, shouldn't he say "you know, there's a certain supplement out there that just might help you with your PN pain". I was amazed that our podiatrist is going to begin selling the Benfotiamine. You could have knocked me over when he said "there's a new treatment for diabetic neuropathy". In the past, well, you know how physicians pooh pooh supplements. They just push the meds.

It is a way to increase their income.
I'd like to know what your chiro charges for that benfotiamine and at what dose and how many in the bottle. Doctors don't know much of anything, unless a drug rep shows them. And even then some or all of what is shown them is distorted to make the drug look good, so the doctor will prescribe it. PubMed is full of papers from around the world that show how some non-drug interventions work wonders. But the doctors do not read them, even tho other doctors did the studies. In my opinion after a decade online, learning all this, our medical system is pretty pathetic. If you get shot with a gun, hit by a car, or have a heart attack, or stroke you may get some fancy medical dancing. But for day to day life, health, comfort...kiss it goodbye.

Mrs. D.
It's Alan's podiatrist who will be selling the benfotiamine, not his chiro (although Dr. Theirl does sell supplements). At our next visit (in 7 weeks), he might have the stuff in, or he might know what he will be charging), I'll be sure to ask him. Melody

doesn't make much difference. Podiatrists would like some
money too! LOL I am reminded of the YEAR ~~ a whole year that my husband spent on a Federal Grand Jury. The Federal Grand Jury was only seated once a year. It was a LONG HAUL.(4 days a week). This was many years ago, when Dilaudid was heavily diverted in Detroit. There was no oxycodone then, or the other newer narcotics we see today. My husband was the foreman. He signed the indictments, which went to the prosecutor. I can't tell you how many undercover agents he watched testify (complete in their undercover clothes), and how many (dozens) of podiatrists were involved! The trick back then was to claim hammertoe releases, to Medicaid, for false payment and to write fraudlent RXs for Dilaudid for street use! To this day I don't trust most Podiatrists...even tho I do have one for myself and son, who is quite good. It took me a while to find him...and when he offered a hammertoe service a while back, I caught MY BREATH (and refused). My hammertoes from standing corrected with magnesium. I am not suggesting that YOUR podiatrist is "crooked", but they do have a reputation in some places for needing money. I wonder what took yours so long to discover Benfotiamine? Must be a sales rep that came in to tell him. Betcha. If you get the name of the company I'll look it up. The ones who sell only to chiros, podiatrists and MDs do not sell to the public, as a rule.

Here is an example:
http://www.orthomolecularproducts.co...ommitment.aspx Secrets...no one but the special few can access the contents of these supplements, the price, unless they are a "doctor". http://www.orthomolecularproducts.co...uctSearch.aspx I have just noticed that this site has revamped itself. Where there were just lists before they now allow you to click on the bottles and actually see the ingredients. Just 2 weeks ago you could not. Just in the short time I moved around there, I found alot of junk...stuff that is questionable to me. (and esp for big bucks!). So I am rather surprised that "doctors" would sell some of it!

MrsD: Someone referred to B12 and potassium in a post I read. It was about side effects that had to do with the potassium. Could you fill me in on this? Thankyou
