Question Supplements and Test Results

Everyone-

I am going to John Hopkins in early December. I take many of the supplements posted in the stickies. I want the results of any blood tests that might be done to be as accurate as possible. Do you guys have any idea when I need to stop taking the supplements to get accurate test results? I was planning to stop taking the supplements two weeks prior to the appt. Will that be enough time?

Thanks for any response.

Lightbulb depends on the tests...

Vitamin C interacts with many blood tests.

You should ask the doctor and/or the place doing the tests, to be sure, about the others.

Yes, definitely call the dept of neurology at Hopkins and ask
about stopping suppliments, and the time frame beforehand.
Vit C and Vit B12 (and others) can cause skewed test results.

Lightbulb If you have been on B12 for while

Your levels will show higher even if you stop the supplement.

You could stop for a few days before, so any temporary excess will be gone. But your basic higher level will most still be there.

Having MMA done will show more. If MMA is low, that means your B12 is working properly and being absorbed.

I have to laugh... that cute kitten loves rabbit flesh.
She killed and ate 8 young ones this summer, leaving some for me (usually the entrails) each morning.... Cute? She is truly savage beneath the cute kittie business!
