With one storm after another pummeling us, and with already breaking last year's record for snow, I have decided that this is an ice age. PN and all pain I think waxes with a low pressure system. Know anybody interested in living in the tundra? I have some frozen land to sell. We have already replaced one mailbox, and this one is leaning. I see the plow managed to take out every one's mailbox on the County trunk. He doesn't hit them, it is just so darn much heavy snow that knocks it over.
Now that my fingernail is likely a manifestation of psoriasis, which is all new to me, but makes perfect sense given a while back I asked about seronegative spondyloarthropathies, and was told I 'looked too good' for that. I am going to have to consider a tanning bed if I start manifesting elsewhere. Hooray, the solstice is here....each day we gain 3 minutes of sunlight. |

This is NOT a good time of year for me. And I'm having a really BAD day (a nice pity party going on here). Since I rarely, if ever, do this to myself, I've decided to cook some sprout patties for Alan. He just hugged me and said "We'll get through this". I cannot wait until Jan 2. Then I know I'll have at least one more year until I have to hear those carols and hymns and see all the happy families. I'm really not like this. At least not in my every day life. I'm pretty upbeat. But and I don't know why, I wish I could just sit in the sun and feel the warmth. We had some kind of storm last night. All ice and snow and slipper conditions. But I did go out for my usual lovely cup of coffee this morning. Ice and storm be dam#ed!!! lol

Hi Melody:
I am sorry that the winter holiday season makes you feel sad. You do so much for everyone else's spirits with your postings, that it is a shame that this happens to you every year. I always look for your postings and it has seemed that I haven't seen many lately. Maybe I just wasn't finding them in replies to others. Keep going for those cheering cups of coffee every day and maybe have one in the afternoon too? ![]() Shirley H. |

I'd do a jig, but probably fall over?
Cycleops - please check out Mrs D's threads on her visor light? I'm seriously thinking this mite help me w/the 'blues' Anything is worth a try once? Melody? Understand about the 'music'! Started to hear the 'Chipmunks' the day before Thanksgiving! Sent me into a funk rite there and then! Yesterday the songs were all by great but dead singers? From Gene Autry to Karen Carpenter! All I could think of was is: Nothing new is good? HUH? Granted I like the older songs, but..... One dead singer after another on the intercom isn't my cuppa tea! As you said 'C'... We are now gonna GAIN daylight for quite a while. I do like that concept! Happy or somethings? - j PS? Actually got a REAL tree and it's trimmed and lights are up! Cannot say how MUCH this helps the spirit and the heart. LOTS of lites and tinsel strands... Sparklies in the right place! |

--with those who find the holiday season just a tad overbearing, and overlong.
A lot of this has to do with economics, of course; in the words of Tom Lehrer-- "Angels we have heard on high, tell us to go out and buy . . . God march ye merry merchants may you make the Yuletide pay . . ." For those with a touch of bah humbug, may I humbly suggest celebrating Festivus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus http://www.festivusbook.com/ Last edited by glenntaj; 12-23-2008 at 06:03 AM. |
