Of course he feels wonderful when he comes home.
He walks in the door and says "I'm never drinking milk again". I said "when do you ever drink milk?" and he says "well, I eat yogurt". I said 'that's ridiculous, why can't you drink milk". He said "Dr. Theirl told me it causes inflammation". Now, I just went online and all I found out was that Milk has certain enzymes that INHIBIT the Cox 2 things and it reduces inflammation. So if any of you can straighten all this out, I would appreciate it. My Salton Yogurt Maker arrived today and Alan insists he can't eat any more yogurt!!! Since yogurt is made from milk. Sigh!! lol

Used in moderation, sensibly, I don't see what the fuss is about. What are his goals anyway? Are there signs of "allergy" to dairy?
I have given you this link before: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/d...products/106/2 Nutrition data has an inflammation scale for each food searched. The one above is for yogurt. For skim milk: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/d...roducts/7578/2 I think the benefits from yogurt far outweigh the minor inflammatory factor. Also dairy is a source of sphingolipids, which our brains need. (not found in many other foods) Here is a good site that explains inflammation: http://www.aboutinflammation.com/foo...lammation.html Given the fact that you have told many stories about Alan and his mixing up words, I wonder basically what was really said. If this bothers you ..then I'd call Dr. Theirl up and get the scoop. The NutritionData site is very good for evaluating the content of many common foods. I suggest it highly.

Hi Mrs. D.
No, this time he didn't get any words mixed up. I've been to Dr. Theirl's office before. I remember discussions. We are not MILK DRINKERS in this house. Never have been. Dr. Theirl feels that because Alan has auto-immune stuff going on and he has arthritis and other stuff happening, that he should not go near milk. Alan didn't ask him about yogurt. But Alan has a habit of sticking to a mind set. Once Dr. Theirl says something (or Dr. Fred for that matter), THAT'S IT!!! No going back. And we both watched a video on youtube (a long time ago). Some lady went on and on about the horrors of milk. Alan NEVER FORGOT THAT. But I'm not giving up my yogurt. My body is better for it. My sugar reading this afternoon was 109. So I'm good to go in that department. I made a dish of pasta for him tonight. Get a load of this. I boiled some Dreamfield's low carb penne. I steamed some broccoli, some snow peas in a pan. I then took my sprouted lentils, cranberry beans, and some quinoa, (we're talking half a cup here, so this is not a lot of sprouts). I sauteed the sprouts in a pan for one minute. I then added them to the penne and steamed broccoli and snow peas. Now what did I put in this dish? Some of Ken's sodium free sesame and ginger marinade. I tossed the whole thing together. It smelled like something from a Thai restaurant (but with no sodium). Alan liked it but he has a mind set in what he likes. What was his first comment on tasting this dish? "Melody, you know what's missing??" The tomato sauce" I said "are you crazy, taste the darn thing, it's sesame and ginger". He shut up. He will never change. Oh, he has to lose 11 lbs. Dr. Theirl said so. He weighs 210. He looks fine though. But he's inside eating his humongous bowl of plain popcorn. He does this every single night at 8 p.m. Bit of OCD going on here!! lol
