So from what I have read, exercise is so very important for PN. Can someone reassure me again that just because I feel pain during and after exercise, it isn't hurting my PN or causing it to spread? Is walking the best exercise for PN? Does it help prevent some balance problems? What would be the best exercise for arms and hands when it comes to PN?
The day before yesterday, I walked up and down the streets of San Francisco with my hubby and some friends. I just wanted to be as normal as possible and now, a couple of days later, I am getting some scary, horrid pains. I was worried I might of made the PN worse. I also know that I have to keep things in balance between getting the proper excercise, and not way over doing it....ouch! ![]() |

What kind of exercise? Because walking isn't exactly low impact and that might hurt. I go to a Curves gym and go around the circuit--I don't know if there is a Curves by you--and my pain goes away for an hour or two.

Actually, the only thing I have done is walking, never more then a smaller, brisker pace. I have been afraid to do anything else due to the pain I start to feel...

I am in the same boat, I went running around the GG Park 10 days ago and I am still paying for it. I was fine for the first few days after running but then all hell broke loose - burning, deep aches, stinging, twitching. |

[QUOTE=chamade;458858]Pain can have a negative effect itself on the course of any illness, as it increases stress.

Yep, it seems like I am also having a delayed effect after the activity... |

I use a Gazelle, and often, go at a good clip. It is very easy on joints. I put on my headset with fast music and go at it!

Two that come to mind would be swimming and a hand cycle , if you belong to a gym. Light weight resistance, high repetitions also now that i think of it.

Oh yes, I forgot about swimming which I love... Now I just have to try and get better pain control to be able to do these exercises and not suffer so much afterwards. ![]() |
