Yep, In the beggining of my nerve troubles I was told I had " no sign of diabetes whats so ever " from a GP who used the fasting glucose test, but my neuro sent me off for a glucose tolerance test and the results were that I was Prediabetic or sometimes called borderline diabetes, it was the cause of my neuropathy, I hope you find the cause of your troubles.

I agree with Brian.
From what I have read about hemochromatosis, it damages the pancreas. When you get it under control, the damage to the pancreas does not reverse. In other words you are stuck with it. I think you should follow guidelines for insulin resistance or pre-diabetes. Proper dietary control and use of some supplements may help. B12 benfotiamine r-lipoic acid chromium supplements These have shown improvements for diabetics. Diabetics lose inositol and magnesium in the urine. So these two are helpful too.

Hi first I am sorry for your suffering and they why behind your condition battle. I am in a very similar boat. I understand the thought of being on meds for a lifetime is not a happy one but can you look at going to a PM doc as something temp to get you in a better place pain wise so you can keep looking for the why behind this and that may offer you better treatment? On a side note I have been to a couple PM docs and most of them didn't even want to deal with meds and me they wanted to do invasive treatment. I also have rsd but there may be a route like that for you or a physical rehab program. I am not familiar with diet etc but for awhile they were watching me for pancreas issues and I was on a special diet to not put such a toll on that. I didn't have pain at that time so can't say if it would help that but may help you or just keep other problems at bay.

Have you seen a Rheumatologist? Ever tested for Sjogrens or lupus? It can take 3 - 5 years to test positive for Lupus, and this involves pain. Auto immune illnesses' of many types. Good luck! Stay positive all the time; I find this helps.

I have had three RA profiles done by three different doctors all say neg on Lupus MS RA and other autoimune diseases ( strange how doctors love repeating test at my expense and wont accept other test results from the same lab) Anyway I have a appointment at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville the first week in May I will keep all updated on the diagnosis.
