Wait an hour, then you can eat. Any B12 with food present, may not be absorbed. The tiny amount is lost in the food and B12 is not easily absorbed to begin with. Take both 1000mcg at the same time, for best results.

5000.
I usually take it every day (in the a.m. on an empty stomach). But sometimes it's okay if I skip a day or two. Melody

Thanks, and Alan's ice cream did bring several smiles to my face and an hearty chortle to begin my day. Thanks also for the B12 dosage suggestion. I also appreciated the msg from "nuerologic" with the link to the NY Times article. A good concise article! Interesting to note that AARP in their email from yesterday also ran and article alerting seniors to the B12 defiency problem. That article was less detailed and less comprehensive than the NYT article. I am beginning to really appreciate this Forum and method of discussion. THANKS!

Robin, I hope you have been reading all of this thread carefully!
There is alot of information here, far more than included in any newspaper story/article. Sometimes the media, while well meaning, misses the boat due to word limitations and editing.

I understand that B12 must be taken on an empty stomach. However, is it okay to take it with fluids, like coffee or juice?
I am having a little trouble finding enough time in the day to properly space my supplements and food. Thanks. |

Yes, as long as the juice does not have fiber added to it. (like Metamucil).
It is the bulk/fiber that absorbs the B12. I take mine with my thyroid and tea. No problems for years and good lab results with both.
