Default PN from chemo drugs

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with severe PN as a side effect of chemo drugs? My mother has clear cell ovarian carcinoma and was prescribed 3 rounds of Paclitaxel + Carboplatin. During the third round she developed very bad neuropathy and as a result is in severe bed-ridden pain.

Anyone else out there experienced this? I understand it's quite rare...

Thanks,

Nick.

Actually, its quite common, but the oncology docs don't always want to accept it.
Just like the surgeons who deny PN after surgery.
It happens more times than it should.... if only a coincidence.

If you type in "chemo" into the search for this forum there are several threads like this one:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ighlight=chemo

Carnitine has been used prophylactically for chemo nerve damge.
Using after the fact is less studied, but worth the try.
There are no drugs that I am aware of for this specific damage.
Only providing certain substances that help mitochondrial function to return, are available at this time.

Acetyl l-carnitine
CoQ-10
Are the main players.

If you get tested for Vit D levels, and B12 you might see improvement with Vit D (it is showing cancer prevention traits), and B12 is a healer of neurons too.
