Wisest Elder Ever
|
Tegretol is a very old drug. Originally it was put on the market for seizure control. But then it gradually moved over into nerve disorders/pain. For a long time it was the only treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.
It has side effects, and interacts with other drugs. Its more modern cousin Trileptal is a bit more expensive but less problematic with drug interactions. You need careful monitoring while taking it. It can affect the blood, and also sodium metabolism. But if your doctor watches you, you should be okay for a trial.
