The cat grass is growing well.....I have five containers of it in my bathroom (to keep the cats away till it's ready). It's growing so fast you can almost watch it!! I can't wait till it's ready for them to eat. I bought it from a website that was recommended to me by the vet....

I live with 5 long-haired cats. They let me share their home.

Anyone know of a way I can get rid of my own hairball

Hmmmmm.....well, first off, I'd tell you to let your cats bathe themselves!

I use Pet Greens Treats, my 16 year old cat couldn't hold anything down I thought I was going to lose her, then the employee at Pet Supermarket told me to try the treats. She has gained weight and only throws up when I run out of treats. When I'm running short I put it in their food and they all eat it and they love it.

Well, Tigger found the containers of cat grass this morning and nearly had a conniption. I had to let him eat some of the batch that was grown out a little. He was in heaven! Poor Gracie came along and tried to share in his find but he wasn't having any of that....he swatted her on the head! Eventually, she got to have a turn and they both loved it. I've never heard them purring and eating at the same time!

Well, that is totally great... that is a touching description of their needs too.

You can probably buy the seeds and reuse the medium. Some inexpensive fertilizer will help the later batches along, since whatever comes with the set, will be consumed after a time.

The grass does not last long, so real soil is not needed. I wouldn't let them get that vermiculite in them tho. You might have to snip it and offer in a little glass if they start pulling it up.
Some cats (like my son's) rip the whole grass out of the growing container!

The kit came with two pretty large bags of seed. It's called "buck oats" and the grass it produces is kind of stiff. They did pull up a couple of sprigs of grass so I had to monitor them while they ate it.

They enjoyed it so much. I wanted to plant a patch of it outside so I could just go out and snip off the tops of the blades for them but ChemLawn sprays our lawn monthly and I'm afraid of the chemicals they use. I might just fix a tray and keep it in the garage.

The things we do for our pets!!
