I don't know what to do. My Kitty J.D.is 16 yrs. old. He was recently diagnosed with kidney failure. We give him an I.V. twice a day as is Doctors orders. He goes through the house part of the time crying and it breaks my heart. I don't want him in pain and I have heard that the I.V. therapy really isn't going to make him better. He is the best kitty and for 16 yrs. he has been my best friend. Just writing about him, I am crying. What to do? I guess I know the real answer but don't want to face it.
Thank you, Doodle bug7 |

My heart goes out to you. I totally understand.
Our dear late Sheba died at 24 of kidney failure. I am still guilty about it ( Oct 2010) because I think I should have put her to sleep earlier. She never cried with it though. Cats that vocalize alot I'd worry about. It can be a sign of hyperthyroid disease, which strikes elderly cats as well. Last Friday our 14 yr old Oreo's cancer leaped out of remission and we had to put her to sleep too... this was very traumatic. I cried all day long on Friday, in fact... . It is never easy to release a beloved pet from pain. But in the end the decision has to be made. If you wait and let the cat suffer, then you will suffer GUILT...If you do it now, you will wonder if it was too SOON. I don't think there is a clear answer. But if your kitty has a very high creatinine test result, I think your answer is to release her. That is just my opinion. My profile album has photos in all 3 categories of our pets, if you would like to see them.

Prayers for you, Doodlebug. A terribly hard decision but one that is made out of love.

It's a heartbreaking decision to make Doodlebug but it would be a kindness on your part.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, doodlebug.
. When you furbuddy is dying, your choices are: A) both of you suffer, or B) you grit your teeth and do what you know will make you suffer but will ease your friend's misery. This is tough for me to say and tough for you to do, but you are going to feel bad either way. Grief and/or guilt. But your buddy will be out of pain if you can be strong. Good luck to you, doodlebug! I've been there and feel your struggle.

Doodlebug, I feel so sad for you as I read this. A longtime pet is like family and it's really hard to let go.... When my pet dog died when I was younger, I cried buckets. Even when my fish died, I cried.
You love your Kitty and so I think you know what to do. I wish you strength and comfort in the coming days.... |

Hi, there are 2 very good groups on Yahoo that you can get help for your kitty.
One is WholeCatHealth the other is Feline CRF Support Group Both are extremely knowledgeable and you really do need to get empowered with that to help your kitty and yourself right now. Hope kitty feels better soon MB Quote:
