Prayers appreciated. New thread
Seems once again my family is having problems. My sister that is bi-polar
is back in hospital working to change meds. She has been there since Thursday seems no one thought to tell my other sisters in Kokomo. Or maybe even my mom. She has had trouble lately getting help for varies issues so guessing she didn't ask for a ride. Or tell anyone what was going on. My mom sounds lots better to me. I don't think she has a clue how she was sounding on the phone before. But I think she still has a long road to go. Still hoping she can go home for Christmas. Or even a small time for us to celebrate. My nephew who is in Alaska will be home on Monday the 21st. And she is really excited about that too. Then my other sister is finally feeling a little better. Has been put on a new medicine it seems. One was causing her to throw up a lot. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
I forgot to tell about my son Dan, he had depakote added to his
seroquel. Since he has been having anger issues again. Its been off and on for years. But getting bad again. I sure hope the depakote helps like it did when he was 16. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family coming all the way from Yorkshire, Donna.

I'm so sorry that your family is facing challenges right now. This is such a tough time of year to have all of this going on.
I wish your sisters and your son the best of luck with their med adjustments. It can be so hard. :hug: You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong Donna. :hug::hug::hug: Kay |
Ugh, I learned today that my sister who is the one in the first post that
was hopefully feeling better. Is having mental Health issues too. So prayers please that her daughter can get her to go back to get help again. She has been on meds before. I think she still is but not sure. Donna :hug::grouphug: PS. My support comes from here. I don't have many in my family I see regularly. Since there is a distance. |
We're here for you Donna. Whenever you need us :grouphug:

POST MORE! bobby |
Thanks everyone. I know you are here for me. Thats why I've been
here for so long. I found something I've needed for a long time. I at one point when my guys were young had a support group once a week. But that just wasn't enough most of the time. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Hi, Donna,
We want good things for you and your loved ones.:):):):):):):):) M |
Thanks Mari,
I do too. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
I've been thinking especially about Dan and the addition of the Depakote, and was wondering if he has seen any results yet. Is he the son who has the very nice girlfriend?
Also thinking of your sister with BP. Does she update anyone in the family about her progress, or does she keep her MH information very private? It's not that I'm not concerned about your mother or other sister because I am, and I want them both to be well. It's that I can relate to the struggles I face managing bipolar disorder myself. Kay |
I haven't gotten a update yet about Dan. His girlfriend her name is Kortni
is not feeling well right now. She probably has a ear infection. The medicine if it works as fast as last time about 15 to 20 years ago will be working within the weekend. If not already. I'm thinking he may need another 250 mg. But that will be okay to see. I think Kortni went to the doctor this morning she probably has a ear infection or both. So we will see when she returns. They live right next door. My sister's with bi-polar, technically two of them have it. The one that was in the hospital will talk to us about it. But lately I believe she hasn't felt people want to know. Her husband also has Bi-polar and he also lost his license sometime in the past. But instead of telling anyone was driving. He is not driving now that my sister was in the vehicle when he got stopped. But its making this harder on her with her eye issues. So I'm hoping he has done the class he needs to. The policeman was really nice from what my sister said, And told him when he had done the class a judge would probably help the situation by letting him have his license back. Because of my sisters situation. My other sister that has all kinds of issues right now. Is finally feeling better too. But my other sister had let me know about the mental health issues. And I'm sure from the way she is talking in text she is going hypo to under in depression. So I'm hoping she went back to her doctor. My son Dan was the first one in our family to be diagnosed with any kind of issues. So its like I dealt with things for a while before anything else came along. Its been a rollercoaster for all family members. My mom has always been there to support us all. She is the one that I could turn to with Dan's issues. She always listened and tried to understand. She is part of the family members Nami. Were my sisters and one's husband are part of the Consumer's Group. And all three are speakers for groups. Thanks for asking Donna:grouphug::hug: |
Sorry that was long. Hopefully all made since.
I have been debating for a month or a little longer as to whether to ask for a AAC evaluation for Will. This would help with his speech issues hopefully. I know that the SLP at school is sometimes opposed to them. But he is so severe I can't figure out the conversation about 80% of the time. I had talked to the outside speech and to some other special ed. specialist from another school corp. I work with. They all agreed it was a good idea. So I sent in the request with my son signing it last week. Thinking I missed the 10 days they have to decide. So was expecting a answer after xmas. But I got a email last Friday that the SLP had sent the request to the co-op that does our special education. And then yesterday I had received a request for case conference. Which the date and time I can't attend. I had signed it with my son's name. And told them his mom would be doing the meeting. I'm just glad it went over well. I got a response today, she will look at the specialist schedule and get back with us. Also I spent the evening with Derrick yesterday. We got my mom's gift since it was to heavy for me. I was glad he was available. Then we went to supper. He is doing very well in this 8 weeks of school. After his melt down the one day. And his teacher in English after starting to follow his 504 plan. Has really been working with him. She even told him the day after his melt down that I thought was headed to a seizure. That he is doing well and needs more confidence in himself. And then he was surprised he has a average as of last week of a C+ which would have passed the class. But he, his coach and even the teacher think he should retake the class. And that puts the biology he was to take on hold. Which is fine, if he can get his grammar up closer to where it needs to be. He might be ready for the second ECA before summer. So we will see what happens. I'm so impressed and proud of were he is going with this. It was never a thought he would get to English 4 and maybe be ready for English 5 which is the last class. Except for some college ones. Donna :winky::) |
I'm so glad that things seem to be going in the right direction for Will's evaluation. My brother had a significant speech impediment when he was younger. He really benefited from therapy and has no issues today.
You are an excellent advocate for your family members. I will continue to wish you and all of them the best. :grouphug: |
I also talked to Kortni. She says he is much calmer, and that is what needed
to happen for sure. So its looking like the medicine is helping. We will see as time goes on. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Also forgot to tell you guys. We start our Christmas Vacation at work this
afternoon. Its so nice to get paid holiday time for this two weeks off. Its the only job I know of that it happens. I picked up 2 new students, and am referring another in same family to my co-workers closer to were she is living right now in residential care. Will help here as much as I can. But since I don't know her residential center at all. Its best to refer her to a co-worker for this little one. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Donna,
Enjoy your Christmas holiday! :circlelove::circlelove::circlelove: M |
That is great Donna, I hope the progress continues.

It sounds like you inherited from your mom the ability to hold the family together.
what a great family! bizi |

To a degree I did. But also I spent most of my childhood sick. I was in and out of the hospital for my years. I finally stopped spending so much time there when I was about 18. I don't remember it all from my early childhood years, but I do remember a lot of it. So I think its helped me learn to adopt to things going on all the time. I had a great visit from Saturday till Yesterday with my Mom. She enjoyed it too. She wont be going home before Christmas, but will have dinner with one of my sister's and her family on Christmas evening. And then the whole group that is available is coming on Saturday. So someone will go pick her up again. I think after its over she will be more okay staying where she is at again. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Donna, I think the strongest people are the ones who have faced some of the worst adversity- especially early on in life. It makes them especially resilient. I'm so sorry you had to struggle with those challenges during your childhood. :hug:
I'm glad that you had a good visit with your mom, and she'll be able to leave the facility she's at to enjoy the holidays with her family. Best wishes to you and your family this Christmas! |
Yes, Kay I agree.
I know that I do things because they are some of the same things my parents did for me. I also know I was brought up to do anything I wanted. So I knew how important that was for Derrick to also have. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Hi, Donna,
Many hugs for you :hug::hug::hug: I hope that 2016 is a good year for you and your loved ones. :):):) M |
Thanks Mari.
Hi everyone, I ended up going back to Kokomo after dropping Derrick in Lafayette with his Provider. I didn't have Will this week. So anyway it was lots of fun, got home about a hour ago. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Oops meant to write a little more.
My mom is doing pretty good. Is wanting to go home. Think its going to be a while longer. She will live. My sisters are all seeming to do well. Diana is having problems with hypomania but she will be okay. Donna :hug::hug::grouphug: |
I'm glad everyone seems to be doing a little better now. That's a good start to the year! You'll be in my thoughts :hug:
|
Do you think you will ever get snow donna?
|
No idea. Guessing so, but hoping not too. Would be one weird winter.
Wind chill is supposed to make it really cold today here. Its -41 or so they are saying. So far its not been bad here. But we will see. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Seems that parts of Indiana got snow and some areas even 4 or more inches.
Not us, so hopefully it will continue for a while. My husband even made my new steps and rail this weekend. I have a picture on my facebook page. I haven't figured out a way to post here from there yet. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Donna,
That is cool about the steps and the rail.:) M |
Yep, I've been up and down them for 3 or 4 days now. They are really nice.
Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Donna,
'Happy to hear that they are working for you. It is so important to know that you are going to be safe. :):):) M |
Yep, I am glad he finally got around to them.
Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Hey everyone
I haven't updated for a while. But my mom sounds good. I can find out for sure this coming weekend. I'm going over to see her, and watch my youngest sister's, youngest foster daughter while they go away for her birthday. We are going to stay at my mom's house. My sister is having some problems adjusting to her blindness in the bad eye. I sure hope she starts doing better with it. I haven't heard how the rest are doing. Will hopefully see some of them. Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Oh I forgot my M-I-L doesn't have full vision in one of her eyes....just adds to my worry about her.:(
So glad that you help out your family. ((((HUGS)))):hug: bizi |
