How is the weather affecting you?

Hi,

We are having gray skies and cool days and nights.
I miss the sun!
Those clouds are affecting my mood.
I need sun. http://bestsmileys.com/sun/3.gif

I know that others are dealing with very cold temps and I wonder how you manage?

M.

Curious 01-15-2009 05:32 PM

We have had cold in Texas. No too cloudy.

When we are having a cloudy week, I buy a cheap ( around $5-$7) little bunch of fresh flowers at the grocery store or WalMart. I split it up, so there are 1 or 3 stems in each little vace.

bizi 01-15-2009 07:19 PM

20's tongith!
yikes!

Mari 01-15-2009 08:14 PM

Flowers sound nice, Curious.

Stay warm, Beth.

M.

befuddled2 01-16-2009 12:36 AM

If it is cloudy for more than one day I get depressed. The cold doesn't affect me if the sun is out except I don't want to go out.

Curious, that is a good idea about the flowers.

I like to find nice photos to make into desktop backgrounds for my computer.
sunny beaches, sunsets, waterfalls, pretty lakes or mountains scenes.
You can put them as screensavers too.
I switch mine around every so often.

Right now I have a sunset photo I took at the coast in September.

befuddled2 01-16-2009 03:14 AM

Very nice picture Jo. I need to start to learn how to use my new SLR digital camera.

Mari 01-16-2009 07:31 AM

Hi,
It is 60 degrees out and will warm up a little more. (these are normal temps for us this time of year).

Then the forecast calls for rain.

I had to find clothes last night to wear because almost everything I own is summer clothes for mid august heat. They would look silly at work today.

Plus the building is likely to be cold.
Often the temp in the building is in the low 60s -- someone in charge cannot figure out how to do climate control correctly for our building. HELLO?

M

Nikko 01-16-2009 06:14 PM

Well the nights now are only down to the 40's and the day's are in the low 70's. The sun is always shining, which is helpful. I lived back N. East 4 1/2 yrs ago and suffered from SAD badly.

We are looking in to the big desert bloom soon................all the snow birds are arriving or have been.

I guess I am very lucky to live in the climate I do. "AZ":D

Yellowfever 01-16-2009 08:22 PM

I refuse to leave the house at all. Unless I have a ride in a heated car. And I sleep under 4 blankets because it is soo cold!!!

my blood pressure is only 90/60. I was told that is very low. LOL

Bad circulation and I am cold all the freaking time

befuddled2 01-16-2009 09:03 PM

It's going to be around 0* by me tonight and not warm up above freezing during the days. I hate this bone chilling cold. I'd love it to be lower 60*'s though.

Mari 06-15-2009 06:44 PM

94 degrees

Hi,
It was 93 degrees F at 1:30 pm when I was at CVS.
It got up to 94 and 65% humidity.
I felt the heat today -- the A/C in tdoc's office was out. You could say that we had a HOT session.

I'm in a general grouchy sad mood.

M.

BJ 06-15-2009 07:14 PM

We had summer in April, I actually put the AC on. Now it's been raining and cloudy for over a week and more rain tonight. Doesn't help my mood much, I need sunshine. :(

bizi 06-15-2009 08:40 PM

I am sorry you are sad today Mari.
(((((HUGS))))
beth
It was hot today and will be this way the rest of the week, 100's for heat indexes...our poor grass

Dmom3005 06-16-2009 01:41 PM

Rain Rain go away. ITs time for sunshine in Indiana.

I'm so tired of the rain. It rained most of May and now has done
so in June.

I am not enjoying all this rain.

I need to find a hobby and also figure out why I feel so tired when it
rains.

Donna

dogodlvr 06-16-2009 06:07 PM

I just want the warm weather back...it has been cool and cloudy....I do best hot and sunny.....I don't feel like doing anything when it is gloomy

Brokenfriend 06-17-2009 02:15 AM

My hobby transmitter antenna in a tree in the back yard got struck by lightning about a week ago. My power went out for a day,and the phone went out for two days. It was a power surge.

The antenna was blown into smithereens. It had a fiberglass shell around it that looked like shredded hay,and it was all over the place. Some of these fiberglass shreads where sticking in the ground like arrows shot into the ground, right under the tree.

The lightning didn't come into my radio room because I had thirteen ground rods grounded to the antenna,so the lightning went right into the ground. I also had my antenna wire in a mason jar filled with rubber, like the rubber of a tire. I had the radio's grounded with four ground rods. So no lightning came into the house.

I have another antenna that I will use. I'm not going to put another one in the tree for many reasons.

If this was too technical,I apollogize. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 06-17-2009 03:13 AM

Dear Friend,

That sounds like a spectacular lightning strike!
I'm glad to hear that you and your radio are ok.

M.

Brokenfriend 06-17-2009 04:38 AM

Thank you Mari

It was a direct hit. The lightning did not come down through the coax from the antenna. Thank God. The lightning went into the ground.

I heard a explosion up above, and so did the other person who lives upstairs in this house. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Belinda1217 06-17-2009 06:02 AM

We've been getting the 90's in Georgia with humidity 60% or more.
So I love it when it rains.:D I'm staying in with the A/C since the heat&humidity bring on my seizures. Belinda

Donna, have you checked your blood pressure at these times? The atmospheric pressure drops when there is rainy weather and storms. Many people are affected by it... it can also increase joint pains - arthritis, arthrosis and old injuries. Some could be the humidity but i think a lot is caused by the change in atmospheric pressure. And i'm wondering if it could cause a subtle drop in your blood pressure - that would make you feel tired.

just an idea

waves 06-17-2009 07:27 AM

we are having spring...

well, actually spring sort of dashed in and dashed out right into summer.

and with both come POLLENS.

and open windows.

and ALLERGIES.

ARRRGHHHHH.

or i should say ARRRRGHHHHTCHHOOOOOO!!!!

in the day time it is also now hot and uncomfortable. i was thinking it makes me tired but (i just realized while replying to another post) that could be because i am getting fewer calories from not binge eating. or a combination.

today is rainy sort of. actually it was cool and cloudy which was a nice break. but i have my therapy appointment late this afternoon so naturally it will probably dump on me. lol.

I broke down and got a tanning package, at least I can have a little artificial sunlight. It helps a bit

Brokenfriend 06-17-2009 12:58 PM

Hey Di

I have a love/hate relationship with weather changes....

What I love watching... my body hates... I can usually tell about 48 hours ahead of a weather change.... as the barometier changes... RSD follows...

I haven't really tracked how weather changes affect my moods... will have to try to remember to maybe track these....

It was mostly sunny today.... around 80 degrees.... I stayed in the dark in my room...

Hope everyone is having a better day...

Friend,

yes that is a lot of people logged in... i've never seen that many either. some may be bots you know, but not necessarily. that's pretty cool. :)

~ waves ~ going to tuck in now, i think.

bizi 06-17-2009 09:24 PM

Friend that is an amazing story...glad that you are safe.
It has been hot and humid here all week.
we walked this evening 9pm for 25 minutes and we walked faster than we usually do, I need a shower now.
I am so thinking that we need a tread mill.
but then you burn off more calories the more you sweet right?
waves- hope you are sleeping :Zzzz:

Dmom3005 06-19-2009 12:12 AM

No I haven't checked my blood pressure.

I hadn't thought of that.

I am just doing what I need to and working through the tiredness.

Ugh.

Rain and rain and rain.

Bad weather is catching.

bizi 06-23-2009 09:01 PM

It was 100 today and hot hot hot.
at least the humidity is not out the roof yet. I heard it has been 120's in arizona, anyone hear from nikko?
I came home from work today and went to bed the heat just wore me out, I was at the pool on sunday and overdid it I only put sun block on my nose and shoulders, it was overcast but still I should have known better.
my back and arms hurt today, it is that time of the month and I accidently took 2 doses of my med this morning(thought I had forgotten it but had not), I came home feeling like a zombie and went to bed to lay in the cool air for a couple of hours.
It is supposed to be like this all week. one side of our yard looks completely dead grass, we have watered it some, of course we are on watering restrictions.
blah blah blah
beth

Abbie 06-23-2009 10:39 PM

It's supposed to be miserably HOT here tomorrow... we have a HEAT advisory tomorrow...

I'm glad I don't have to move out of the air... but it's a catch 22 for me... Cool air inside and hot outside = pain flair for me.

So you see... it's a win win situation for me...:D
Maybe I will stand one foot out the door and one foot in... :D

Hope everyone is being careful in this heat!!! Remember to hydrate!!!!!!

Abbie

Mari 06-24-2009 04:43 AM

We had record breaking 100 degree temp with the attendant humidity on Monday.
But all day Tuesday we had severe thunderstorms so the temp has dropped back to the reasonable hot normal that we are used to for the time of year.

I like normal.

M.

dogodlvr 06-24-2009 10:45 AM

Yea...Ohio near 90 degrees and sunny yesterday and today....AND I am off work... I love it... this is my happy weather!

bizi 06-24-2009 01:03 PM

99 degrees so far and it's not the "heat of the day yet"...3-4pm, fortunately the humidity is low 43% right now.
I really feel sorry for people who don't have air conditioning in their homes or their cars...how did the old timers manage without electricity, maybe it was not as hot back then, with global warming and all if you buy into that...that is....(I do):o
*****
there is a slight chance of rain all week 20%.....
lets hope for rain....
I hope that all who read here have air conditioning if you need it.
Waves how is your weather these days?
beth

dogodlvr 06-24-2009 01:17 PM

;0 I do not have air conditioning... we use fans and have a good cross breeze in our house... but I would probably feel different if I lived in your area...I like sunshine and heat... I hate to be cold, I usually take a jacket into restarants etc that have air.... Winter here is toxic to me.

Dmom3005 06-24-2009 05:05 PM

ITs nice and humid outside and I sure am not weathering well in this weather.
So I'm staying inside the air conditioning. My son doesn't have air conditioning, but thankfully my husband got them one tonight. I'm guessing
they will feel much more comfortable tomorrow.

The other son's central air isn't working, hopefully when it stops raining
my husband will get it fixed.

Donna

bizi 06-24-2009 09:36 PM

it ended up being 104 today:eek:...that must be a record high for this time of year...I don't know we jsut took our evening walk and it was only 86....crazy weather.
beth

Dmom3005 06-25-2009 09:07 PM

One son has two working air conditioners tonight.

The other has one. Working on getting him another working soon.

Donna
